wohaaaaaaaa, you work? you have 10 maids or something man!!

Posted by Tranc3 on Aug-15-2004 21:51:

As long as it wasn't on when it got wet and you didn't turn it on when it was wet, it will be fine once it dries.

The circuits, at least. Dunno how the screen will react.

Leave it a loooong time to dry. Even up to a week.

I'd say take the HDD out ASAP, dry that even more thoroughly, then put it on another computer/laptop and backup the data. THEN try and get your laptop working again.

wrong - if he wasnt lucky then the water would have gotten in deep enough to fuck with the lcd screen and possibly short the battery circuits

i think recovery is doubtful

lol the whole AHHH ITS OPEN just made me piss myself

sorry

Posted by CynepMeH on Aug-17-2004 04:29:

Well, just because the water leaked through your laptop, doesn't mean your data is gone. You can try pulling out the Hard Drive and sticking it into another (similar laptop). At least this way you'll get your data back. As far as the laptop goes, you may be able to dry it off and as long as none of he circuits were shorted (by charge) you might be able to get it to work. Though you may have a corrosion later on, which will kill your laptop eventually (if it ain't dead yet)..

That sucks - I left my window open once too, only to drench $5000 worth of Cisco gear - two routers one switch (my CCNA lab... )

Haven't even tested it yet - don't know if it will work.

so I feel your pain...

Posted by -=M=- on Aug-17-2004 06:00:

yeah true the hard drive will still most likely have most of the information coz those things are generally airtight and most laptops have the circuitry for the hdd on the inside... give that idea a try, take the hdd out and put it in another pc
