mushrooms question

hi folks,

i'm gonna buy some mushrooms online today / tomorrow.

i'm ordering them fropm the UK, and they'll be sent to northern Ireland rather than the republic, as they're legal in the north.

they'll be sent to a friends house, and he'll take them to me on Friday.

my question: how long would mushrooms stay fresh / edible for?

if i ordered on tuesday morning, would they still be fresh by friday evening?

Dave

they will have dried out a bit by then..but they are definatly ok to eat at that point. Im 80% sure on this.
Ive ate two day old mushrooms vaccum sealed and they were fine..
im sure if there sending it over, it will be vaccum sealed...so id say its fine

dried shrooms are better than fresh ones imo... you eat less of them.

yeah...its just when there WAY to dried...they can rot..but theres no chance of that happening in two days

fresh mushies are legal, dried aint, as that is seen as preparation for consumption, like making a soup/tea with em

and the only reason you eat more fresh than dry, is coz of the water content in the fresh making up extra weight

mkae sure you do em in a controlled environment if its your first itme

lets say they arrived in my friends house on wednesday....

would i be advised to put them in the freezer ??

Posted by colonelcrisp on Aug-16-2004 11:34:

dont freeze them, too much heat or cold will break down the psylocibin rendering them useless. i find fresh taste better than dried. but thats just personal opinion. remember when you eat fresh mushies, the equivalent in dry weight for fresh is 10%, so if it usually takes you 5 grams dried to get totally fucked, eat 50 grams wet.

tuesday to friday...

thats quite a gap...

i dont think they will be really any good after 3 days as they begin to go manky if not sealed, i heard if u put them in the fridge it might give u an extra day or something

hmmm

this is confusing the shit out of me now..

i got this in an email this morning:

quote:

Morning David,
If we send your order out tomorrow it should get to you by thursday,
friday at the latest. They will still be fresh by the time you get them, but put them in the fridge as soon as you receive them. They will stay edible for upto two weeks.

ok, i've read that 15 grams of hawaiian copelandia is considered a strong dose.

and that they're one of the strongest types of mushroom?

i've ordered 30g, and planned to at 15........

50g sounds a little insane..

Posted by colonelcrisp on Aug-16-2004 13:15:

when you dry them out the yield by mass is about 10% of what the wet weight is. ie if you take a 10 gram shroom and dry it, it will be about 1 gram dried. i usually do B+ which is not as potent as the hawaiian strain, but is known for the largest weight yield. but for b+ 50 grams wet is usually ok for me. but i have enver done hawaiin wet always dried, and last time i did them i was so fucked i forgot how much i dosed.
