America's Army

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone plays the game "America's Army" LINK . It's a free web-based first person-shooter (kinda like Counterstrike, but a lot more realistic). It was developed by the US ARMY to aid in recruitment/training, but a lot of non-army people like myself play it.

Not quite cutting edge.. but very good nonetheless :P Hard to play games on a laptop tho, without external devices. What type of vid-card did you get?

ah sorry knew i had forgot something, it's a geforce4 420 go 32M but i think it is enough to play AAO on? or?

but yeah it's pretty much cutting edge to be a laptop

i have an external mouse, so that will make it easier to play games

Talk about an amazing recruitment tool! Wow! Brilliant!

One who does really well at such a game may one day even receive "contact" about joining up.

Outstanding!

Ouch... 32MB might be enough if you turn down all the graphics . I have no problem running it with my 64MB geoforce 3, but it's over-clocked .

Yea, that's why it was created, and still recieves millions of dollars in funding every year from the US government!

they put alot of money and research into this, they pretty much made it as real as possible. (so im told, havent played it yet)

Considering they have all the experience in real combat, this must be pretty good...

This brings up an interesting point on violence in video games. People are always complaining that violent games like Counter-Strike make kids pick up guns and shoot people (ie Columbine and all the copycats). But this is a case where the game is actually designed to make you go out and pick up a gun to shoot people

And we who paid to develop this game? The sorry American taxpayers that are watching their fellow American soldiers die in Iraq.

i played this 3-4 months back religiously, but it got too addictive so i deleted it..

also part of the reason i deleted it was alot of cheaters in the game.. got boring...

but apparantly this new version u can drive tanks & shit... so who knows...

2003 US Military Budget:

- nuclear missiles
- research new weapons technology
- expand forces in middle east
- video game

Well in the game all of your enemies are modelled after terrorists.. so I guess you would only be shooting them, not some innocent or righteous force.
