"Ibiza clubbers don't dig Diddy's ditties

16/08/2004 - 11:02:19

Hip-hop star Sean "P Diddy" Combs has been booed off stage twice by clubbers in Ibiza after failing to impress them with his performance.

The star - who is currently holidaying on the Spanish island - performed at Space nightclub last Sunday but his set drew a series of jeers and heckles from partygoers.

His performance at club DC10 the following night suffered a similar fate.

One witness says, "It started well - he was getting the crowd going and singing over some tracks.

"But when he started to rap, the crowd turned on him, shouting and jeering until he left the stage. At DC10, he got on stage and everyone cheered - but once he started rapping there was another series of boos."

The confused R&B mogul was reportedly overheard telling one of his staff, "Why don't they dig me?" "

let me see.....hmmmmmmmm

Hehehe P Diddy...

He's a good business man...and looks like he's good with producing music, don't know if he should go to EDM clubs and start rapping though

Posted by Salem on Aug-16-2004 20:03:

hehehehe That is great, best news ive heard for a while....Diddy is a joke, and atleast over the ocean people realize it and put him in his place....I don't understand why he can't f*ck off and stick with his own shit...what a magit.

From my experience, people who listen to EDM seldom like rap...
on a personal note, I am sick and tired of the whole RAP scene....
People in Europe love their EDM, the rap scene just does not jive there...

Dunno

Why on earth would P. Diddy possibly think that people in Ibiza would want to listen to him??? Does he realize people go to Ibiza for EDM....

thats a damn good question, rap and EDM dont go together, if i was in ibiza i would have been leading the booo's.

Posted by Ashley on Aug-16-2004 22:24:

Haha, that is so funny! I personally am not a P. Diddy fan. He thinks that he is God. Just because he worked with Erik Morillo, he thinks that he can just go over there and get as much respect as all the dj's that have worked their asses off to get residencies in Ibiza. And what ended up happening?? He made himself look like a complete ass!!

WAY TO GO IBIZA CLUBBERS!!!

Posted by deano1_ on Aug-17-2004 00:21:

Smoking ..umm..something

diddy, you're a loser! save your weak raps for a B2k hook. if you wanted some attention just throw some of that money you got falling out of every pocket into the crowd, or some bottles of crystal, but please put the fucking mic down.

Posted by MarkT on Aug-17-2004 00:23:

haha...P Diddy does his best work BEHIND the scenes, not on stage...he should know that by now.

From my experience, people who like EDM and who do like rap, they like INTELLIGENT rap...not the gangsta, pimpin' b.s. that so many American artists put out. There's only so many ways you can fit guns, bitches, and money into songs, lol. While trance is no more deep or meaningful than that crap, at least it's not violent or mysoginistic in nature...anyway, I'm getting off topic. Most mainsteam rap is garbage and the hip hop scene in general is in desperate need of fresh blood!

I thought that the U.K. has a decent hip hop and rap scene? Roots Manuva OWNZ!!!

i wouldn't agree with the quote "people who like trance don't like rap"... i don't think anyone likes it when p diddy raps!

he should stick to business & producing.. stay away from rapping!

I agree, although the hip hop scene isn't all bad states side either. Mos Def, Kweli, Common Sense, Blackilicious, De la Soul are all concious rappers who have been accepted by mainstream audiences as well as loved and respected by the underground community. Like EDM, and in that regard most popular music, there will always be a disproportionate ratio between quality stuff, verses garbage put out by people trying to make a fast buck. There is still some great Hip Hop being made out there.

The rest of the world has it right. Most hip hop blows... Good for them!

Posted by DigitalMP on Aug-17-2004 04:13:

Actually, three of my friends were at Space for this party. They said it was pretty fucking sick, and Diddy did his two tracks on the new Morillo CD, and everyone was rockin.

I would imagine PD overstayed his welcome on the stage though...keep that rhymin shit to a minimum with EDM.

BTW, timmyboy and BigTongue...house is not trance, but what am I saying? You probably consider all of EDM as "techno" anyways.

PD is quite the artist, and EVERY FUCKING ONE of you rocked your face off to Let's Get Ill at least once, but go ahead, hate all you want now.

Posted by Jayx1 on Aug-17-2004 04:18:

Lets get ill was great but it was deep dish that made that tune what it was, not p diddy puff daddy...

Posted by dEsidEL on Aug-17-2004 04:21:

KarateKid

atleast he didn't dance .. that's even worse!

Posted by Pett on Aug-17-2004 04:27:

yea, theres no trance at space, house and tech only.

Not to take any credit from Deep Dish, but PD's vocals made that track what it is.

Posted by walkindude on Aug-17-2004 04:41:

I got nothing against R N B and nothing against PD either... he is a smart business man.... and some of his (old) stuff is not bad. But as many have said before, the quality in rap music is going down. Its all about the cars and guns or how much money they have and what they spend it on, who they shot, etc etc. EDM doesnt have an agenda, well, it kinda does, and that is to have a good time.

and a bit off the topic, how many raves have you been to where people got shot or stabbed. Is it possible that rap music is responsible?...
I sound like a politician

Nice work, totally agree with you. P Diddy is a fucking legend. The comment about edm people not listening to "rap" is ridiculous. LMAO Fucking kids on this board, seriously.

when EDM = trance, then yea, "EDM" people don't listen to rap, or anything else for that matter.

expand your horizons people, seriously

Posted by Orko on Aug-17-2004 12:56:

people speak for yourselves. I listen to rap, not new rap, but yes i do listen to rap. That was the first type of music i was really serious about, and started to collect. I have every first album put out by a Wu-Tang member, oldschool!!!

PD is a legend. Fine he may not actually produce every beat from scratch, but he does a fantastic job doing what he does. The guy is a fashion icon, and a smart business man.

he believed he could get up and party, because he did last year. Common guys even Sasha played 'lets get ill', and im sure DIddy did more than just the vocals.
