Cool new winamp visualization plugin ! :)

I have made a winamp vis-plugin and I like to know what you guys think about it
(I'm pretty proud of it, I think it works pretty well with my homemade trance-stuff )

I made it use scripts for effects and transitions,
so people can make their own new effects 'n stuff if they want.

It uses textures, videos and live camera-input.
(so you can throw your own images & videos in the right directories and they will be used instantly by the effects)

It's quite large though - 10MB
(that's 'cause I *have* to supply a starter-set of images and videos..)

you can find it at www.beatharness.com
Let me know what you think of it !

Edit:
these screenshots don't do it justice, these are old ones...
You really should see it in action with the latest scripts / textures / videos to get an idea

Edit:
Sorry, I didn't know what topic suited this post best.. I hope I don't piss anyone off

Looks really good, works great for me.
Only thing I don't like is that after a while it says for personal use only, how do I get rid of that?

Thanks !
The "personal-use only" thingie should only show for 10 seconds every 5 minutes, it shouldn't be too bad..
You can't get rid of it though;
it's the only way I can make sure that if people want to use it at a party, they contact me
(So I can either get into the party for free or we can work out something else )

After all it's basicly free to use (A small popup - 10 seconds every 5 minutes - shouldn't ruin your home-experience) and I put a *lot* of blood, sweat & tears into it

It's the TNT2 that kills it.
You'll need at least a GForce1 class card..

Really nice plugin man.

I salute your effort and assure you that your hard work was not wasted. This is truly a nice piece of visualization.

Doens't work here. I have an Athlon 3400+ with 1,5 GB RAM and a GeForce FX 5700. Dualhead is enabled.

Any suggestions?

How / when does it crash ?
On initialization ? or after a few rendered frames ?

Can you try
- disabling dualhead ?
- disabling multimonitor ?
- another display-resolution ?

Posted by Passiva on Aug-18-2004 18:08:

All didn't work. It crashes on initialization and it gives this message:

"Plug-in executed illegal operation.
Restart of Winamp is recommended (1)"

Posted by DarkFall01 on Aug-18-2004 18:11:

It didn't work for me in the beginning, but I downl the new version of DirectX and it works fine for me...
Btw, very nice plugin, all that work was def. worth it

*****************
*** IMPORTANT ***

IF BeatHarness DOESN'T WORK on your computer,
can you please post
- Your system specs (especially what videocard you have - MINIMUM = GForce1)
- The DirectX Version you are using (DirectX 9 REQUIRED !)
- wether or not you are using a multimonitor/dualhead-setup

this'll make it much easier for me to find the problem(s)...!

Thanks !

excellent responce to the music!!
one of the best visualizations out there (especially in the synch department)

thanks alot for this mate

yeah loving this man.. i have been using R4 up until now, which i like a lot, as its so much different from 95% of viz';s out there, and yet again yours is different too.. and prolly the best viz ive ever seen in the sync section, and some nice trippy ideas in there too. good work

gunna open up premeir and cut up some 1950's public service and health videos now

Thanks again!

If you have any nice links to videos I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd share them
That way I can put 'em on the link-page of the BH-website,
so other people can enjoy them as well..!

Exclamation

Sorry for the thread-bumping but I thought I'd let you know
I've created a new version and added a seperate "update" download that's only 450Kb.
(So you don't have to download the entire thing again if you've downloaded the full installer before..)

In the update there are a few not-so-important code-changes,
but a few nice changes to the effects.

So if you've already downloaded it I recommend you first delete the 'Effects' dir in the Winamp\Plugins\BeatHarness directory, and then install the update.
It should look a bit nicer then

the specific changes can be seen on site...

nice....

Posted by Scythe on Aug-30-2004 14:06:

that is some top work

loving it. Great syncing with the beat and lots of creativity in the vis - doesn't feel repetitive, there's always something different going on.

Top effort, I'll be keeping my eye on this one - best vis I've found - I'm back to being a Winamp goon.

i like it alot, i didnt use any vis until now..i dont like the BH logo at the bottom of the screen though..gets in the way.

Posted by DJ_Bod on Aug-30-2004 14:43:

I tried putting this on my comp, and it didn't work very well. My comp isn't exactly "top of the line" but I still think it should have ran at more than 2 frames per second (that's how it looked at least). I tried messing around with the settings, but I got nowhere in an hour, so I gave up.

My system (in case there's something there that might help figure out why it wouldn't work right):

1.3 GHz AMD Processor
512 MB RAM
Inno3d Tornado vid card (GeForce2)
Windows 98 SE
Winamp 5.xx (can't remember off hand)

EDIT:
Got the new DirectX (9, I believe)
I do not have dual monitors

I love it!

Especially the desktop mode, that rocks

well done mate!
