formula one

hey i was just wondering if there are any formula one fans in the house.
and if so what do you think of the past five seasons. in particular im refering to way michael schumacher has been dominating the track.

love him or hate him, but we are all very lucky to witness a legend in action, after yesterdays race he is the first man to win 12 races in one season after breaking his own record. the man is on his way to winning his seventh world title, not only is it his 7th but its his 5th in a row.

the only man in the field who i think can come close to challenging michael is kimi raikonen, but that doesnt look like its gonna happen given the car he is currently driving and with no support from his team mate.

im a big schumacher fan and i am sick of seeing him run away from start to finish and i do want to see more exciting races but lets face facts the man is doing what he does best and respect has to be given to a living legend.

BIG formula 1 fan, any sport really, 'cept maybe baseball....

season was boring of course, the dominant schumacher.....
not a schumacher fan, but dont hate 'em at all.... u HAVE 2 respect him tho, he is prolly the best ever, and its NOT cause of his car - lets say, like mika hakkinen....

ultimate respect for him, not cocky at all, ALL class....

Michael has not always been like this. earlier he used to be hot headed, dangerous and an all around dick. Trying to take other off the road isnt exactly the best practice when you have everybody watching you! He has matured a lot though. More level headed now. And a much better driver to boot!

i am a huge F1 Fan. I have been following since Mika's first championship. Those seasons were absolutly awsome!

People complain about Schumi's dominance, but Mika had the same level of advantage in both of his championship years. But then, Schumi/Ferrari slowly but surely pulled them in, to the point where it was real close at the end of the season.

To be honest, all the teams, Renault/Mclaren/Williams, have all droped the ball, in part thanks to Micheline. They screwed up big, by not pushing tire development further. Just look at Budapest, Bridgestone ran away with it, no problem like last year.

Although I don't follow it as close as i'd like , I love F1! Yea, Schumacher dominates, but he's just that good, so I can see nothing wrong with it besides a somewhat predictable outcome. Boy was I surprised, however, when I caught my only race of the year (monaco).. I try to watch monaco every year, simply because it's the best track on the circuit! Anyhow, I think it's the only race Schumacher hasn't won this season

Dont hate Shumi because he is good, the ferrari team works their ass off for every race. My favourite race would be the Hockenheim race this season. The Ferrari strategy was superb with their pitstops. My favourite team would have to be Honda though...and I love the way Sato drives. 2 or 3 years, he will be the main contender. Quickest cars would have to be Renault, those guys shoot out at the start every time.

I Love Shuey he's awesome...and yes I'm a big F1 fan...the others gotta pick up quick before he snatches EVERYTHING

monaco is probably the worst race of the season, along with hungary. Both extremly narrow and hard to pass on tracks.

But we all love monaco, because lets face it. They are just damn crazy for driving there!!!! (its total BS that the monaco race i like 100km shorter than any other race on the calender)

Less opportunities to pass distiguishes the good drivers from the bad drivers, from the INSANE drivers. Does suck that monaco is such a short race though... but at least it's not time dependent like the Toronto GP (time limits if the required laps aren't met)

i find F1 quite boring actually

Posted by Diabl0 on Aug-17-2004 14:37:

I am a huge F1 fan. Haven't missed a single race since 94!

Obviously I am a HUGE Schumi fan. Have been cheering for the guy since his days in Benetton. Michael is pure class. Not only the best driver of all times but also one of the best sportsman ever.

There has been criticism that Michael is so good just cause his car is the best. Well its cause of Schumi , Ferrari is where its at today. In 96 when he joined Ferrari, they hardly finished any race! Now presently they havent had a single mechanical failure in 50 races! (a new record).

Michael is not only an exceptional driver behind the wheel, but also off the track, he contributes significantly in the development of the car. While other drivers are vacationing on their yatchs during the off season, Michael is usually seen in Maranello, aiding the designers with the next years car.

Guys, dont miss any of the current races, as you're witnessing a legend in action. Its history being made.

Forza Schumi! Forza Ferrari!

I don't follow it much anymore, but I used to be a Hakkinen/Mclaren fan

you have to give it to Schumacher though, not only he is a great drive, but also a great person (from what I have seen)

Posted by DJ_Ampz on Aug-17-2004 15:23:

I've been a bit of a fan for quite a few years. Always backed Michael before he even got his first win (yes I kind of remember that with my dad about 12 years ago i think It was).

Other then that, would like to see little more competition within the sport. Such a Rich sport with not so much competition

ah...all races are actually time dependant. its actually what comes first, 305km or 2 hours.

Posted by AwakenedAddict on Aug-17-2004 17:40:

whoops , learn something every day!

Posted by Orko on Aug-17-2004 19:24:

that, and the number of laps is determined by how many it takes to complete 305km.

so if your track is 2km, it would take 153 laps. cause obviously you cant just stop in the middle of a track and say, yup i did 305km first! lol

Posted by AwakenedAddict on Aug-17-2004 19:51:

Heh yea, i knew that much! I was just fishy on the time clause

Posted by walkindude on Aug-17-2004 19:53:

next year BAR OR RENAULT will be the main contenders.....

i dont know about that. I know sato is fast, but way to erratic. I dont think he has what it takes to push the development of the car, even if he was a test driver for a year or two.

as for Renault, their driver line up is Alonso + Fisi? Again i dont know. Although Alonso has put in some superb drives, pretty consistant, but not consistant enough.

I think Mclaren is due back, considering they aregoing to have Kimi, and fatty JPM. both fast drivers, and one(Kimi) is very consistant, if he has the car. lets just hope that Mercedes can actually produce an engine that doesnt quit!

Posted by AwakenedAddict on Aug-17-2004 20:09:

My underdog pic for next year. Honda/Takata (i think he drives for honda, no?)

Posted by trancechaos on Aug-17-2004 22:51:

next year if the maclaren is up to speed, i have no doubt that kimi will take the championship, as for sato i dont really see any championship material in him, no doubt he is good but he is just like montoya in a way, both of them dont race with too much balls and no brain. button and alonso are other main contenders, well i guess we will have to see which teams step it up next season.

When Schumacher moved over to Ferarri the team was winless for years. Michael went through several seasons of constant car failures. To watch someone help build a winless team to a champion over time he deserves credit for being part on a winning team. To raise the bar so high others are unable to match is a testament to the members of the team.

Posted by Orko on Aug-18-2004 12:33:

^^^^ Im glad some people actuall realize that Ferrari has not been winning for the past decade, as the media would make it seem. Ferrari went through a 17 year drought before they started winning again in 2000.
