personally here's how i view it:

.com
.net
.org

after that i guess it's all down to conutry extension - .ie, .co.uk etc...

what else is good ?

they should have a .sex for porn sites...

....it would free up the .com domains, even good ones like www.cumfiesta.com... I have another good use for that one lol

I think there is a .sex domain but only availabe from certain places.

Also, stuff like .co.uk is a sub domain. The top level domain for that is just .uk which is only reserved for certain sites.

This is also how we get stuff like .co.uk, .org.uk and so on.

.com, .net and other non country relevant ones are at the top level and do not have sub domains unless it is a country (pretty sure). Stuff like for example .tv was never made exclusively for tv programs, it was a top level domain for the small island Tuvalu that people picked up on.

Same with Tonga for .to and Niue for .nu
