Sick Boy Tommy - Inglorious Deliverance

Cheers folks.

Here's my latest piece for you, a shortened-down version of something I developed while busting my ass off at the military.

Feel free to criticize...

laters, Tommy

plus
nice loops
rhythm is tight
quite techy

minus
boring

conclusion
very nice loops in ythe beginning.. and the rhythm and mixing is tight.. but when it comes to 1:24 I just don like the melody change.. I think this track soundss very good.. and has alot of potential.. I think u need to work on the "melody" aspect of this song.. change some tones... a break would hurt either

Thanks, Subtle!

Glad to hear you like the overall sound. I've spent countless hours on working to improve it, and it's very satisfying to know that I've managed to do so. Even tiny steps forward are better than no developement at all.

Alright, back to work then. You know, I've actually always had this problem with my tracks being too simple or boring. I'm not sure if it's just a matter of trying harder on that aspect of producing, or if it depends on lacking talent. Making huge breakdowns with monumental layers of phat-ass synths and then building it up to an orgasmic climax isn't something I'm aiming for, because I like the song to sort of sneak up on you, but simple and boring are certainly not what I'm trying to do either!

So, do you think the overall soundscape of the mix is boring, or is it the structure and lack of effects and such that you didn't like?

Do you have a certain idea of how you would make the piece come more alive, or is it more of a "gut feeling"?

Anyways, thanks a lot for commenting!

Tommy

hi.. I have probably deleted your track by this time.. but I do remember..

what I meant about break.. is to remove some of the elements in the tune at some points.. my suggestions would be:
for instance:
removing the kick at some places
let the kick and rhythm only play at some points
maybe let only the bass and kick play
try adding a double kick at the end of a bar.. or remove kick at the end of a bar... it works

removing and introducing elements in a track makes the track less boring and more interesting...

hope this helps a little though
