Question Tiesto - Adagio For Strings?...Why Not William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings

Sorry if this was brought up before but:

Why is it that Tiesto decided to release "Adagio For Strings" under that name, instead of "William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings (DJ Tiesto Remix)"??

You didn't see Ferry or ATB release it under their names, so why does Tiesto feel he is so special.

Seems kind of like a ripoff, if you ask me.

I don't care what the vinyl or official release title is - this track will be William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings (DJ Tiesto Remix) to me...

Anyone else feel like it is messed up?

Re: Tiesto - Adagio For Strings?...Why Not William Orbit - Barber's Adagio For Strings

it shouldnt even be titled that
it really should be titled - Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings
William Orbit, like ferry corsten, simply remixed it

and yes im sure there have been many threads about this before

Because Tiesto Remixed/Re-made the Original Barber's Adagio for strings composition in the same way William Orbit did, whereas Ferry Corsten just remixed William Orbit's version. You can call it Barbers Adagio (Tiesto Mix) if you want but that would be incorrect. Hope that clear's things up.

Yep. Not one sample from Orbit's remix is used in the Tisto version.

It should be called...

Samuel Barber - Adagio For Strings[Tiesto re-work/remix, whatever]

Speaking of the topic, didn't someone recently cover Underworld - Born Slippy and name themselves as the artist?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Aug-18-2004 19:36:

If you actually listen to the Ferry Corsten remix, and William Orbit's version you'll know that Ferry's remix doesn't use any elements of Orbit's performance at all. And I know, I own the single.

This kind of thing happens all the time.

It make me wonder if artists plot to make people who will get into trance in the future believe the work is all original.. MP3 is such a huge thing these days that in 2008 when some 14 year old downloads Tiesto - Adagio for Strings, theyll be like 'Wow! Tiesto IS God' moreso than if it were labeled properly.

I hate everytime artists do this.

no offense to the artists because i think they are all great, but IMHO they still can't top the original

off topic:

Can s/o tell me why the tune "delrium - silence (tiesto's in search of sunrise rmx) is not presented on the mix compilations "in search of sunrise 1-3" done by tiesto? Am I right when I think that the name for the famous mix compilation is a result of this remix-name?

But there's also Abnea - Velvet Moods's (DJ Tiesto's In Search Of Sunrise Mix) so I imagine he just likes "in search of sunrise".

These are extrapolations of classical music that has stood the test of time. Quite a life-affirming tune!

Well I think tiesto's version and ferry corstens versions are the best, i care a damn abt this.

If you've ever seen Platoon, any version of that song is just fucking creepy.

So that justifies giving it his name instead ? omg ? ARe you kidding me or what ? Anyubody that goes to music classes plays another mans songs, their entire learning process, they play another mans songs. I had to play mozart to graduate, does this mean I can now record me playing a song from Mozart, and skip the mOzart, simply call it my own ? Do you see how stupid that would be ? It's the same thing here ... And I'm quite pleased to see it's a tiesto fan who brought it up.

Did I say that it justified it not being titled Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings (DJ Tiesto Remix)? No.

I simply said that one of the reasons it's not William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings (DJ Tiesto Remix) is because it doesn't use any of his samples.

Oh, and just because I'm a Tiesto fan does not mean I think he should be given total credit in everything he does.

I've never understood the fuss about this track anyway.

Yeah, if you play it really loud... and then the gunshots ring out.
