I once had such a shitty computer and harddrive, that defraging took more than 24 hours. :\

Posted by getfoul on Aug-19-2004 10:03:

defragging? what's that. I've never done that before.

Posted by mentalbarter on Aug-19-2004 10:06:

i just did mine recently
took over 7 days
tho it was one of the ones that runs in the background while u do other things

Posted by tu_face on Aug-19-2004 11:17:

if you do it more frequently it doesn't take anywhere near as long

i defrag the computer at work (i shoud do it at home too but i'm lazy) every month, and it never takes more than 20 minutes or so...

Is there really much difference in those before and after pics up there???

Posted by dchaves on Aug-19-2004 11:49:

You have too little free disk space and this is the reason why the defrag failed. So burn some of your mp3 to CD's and run it again.

And defrag at least once every two months so it won't take forever to finish.

Its probably because the windows defreag does not sort all of your files. It just takes files that are fragmented (multiple places on disk) and joins them together.

Posted by Billabong on Aug-19-2004 20:41:

God how did you get your files that fragmented, did you take a sledge hammer to the disk and then celotape it back together.
