The student loan/grant thread

i just got a letter through from saas (student awards agency for scotland) and this year i will be getting �3,868.00 for my uni year

thats a 2452.00 loan & 1416.00 bursary

i think it will be spent like this:

�2300 - car + insurance
�700 - petrol/parking/etc.
�800 - gonna buy some new TT's cos my old ones suck - probably some tech 1200's

so yeh im happy now

what is everyone else gettin this year? quite intrested to see what you's get down south...

Oh fuck, the loans company have had a MAJOR fuck up with their software processing loan's some who applied already aint sure of getting there loans for their first term

yeah it all seems to have fucked up and i sent mine pretty late so its not looking good.

and lol @ the first year's enthusiasm to piss the loan up the wall only to realise at the end of every term they dont have a penny for food

im goin in 2nd year + im livin at home this year so i dont have to pay for food, and ive got a job anyway to fund goin out, etc...

just remember you have to pay it all back

+if your in scotchland, you may get hit with an additional fee to pay. my brother just finished the final year of his course and got sent a bill for over 2 grand as part of a government scheme to help others 'receive the benefits of higher education' like he did..and he didnt take out a loan.

oh and if i were you i would get yourself a cdj1000 instead. 1200s are gonna be hard to shift by the time your done with them.

there was a date for all loan applications to be in, them ones that made that date should be fine, its the back log of applications AFTER this date which will be most affected.

It's not definate that you WONT get your loan, but they're saying that due to the software failure then the late ones (which normally get their loan through) might not get it.

Going to a uni in manchester but since I am from America they won't let me get a loan in the UK since no citizenship or a loan from the US since it is a school outside of the country.

Ah mine was sent thru registered post and got through on the day b4 deadline so it should be OK, I've had a letter anyway saying what I'm gonna be getting etc etc

So they said it aint likely ill have mine by the start of term so ill get some kinda payment to tide me over till the rest is assessed the ******s
