Eric Prydz "Call On Me"

Wow this is one of the better tunes I've heard in a while and currently my fav of the summer.

This funky/groove housy track along with a catchy vocal gives such a great feeling at home listening or at the club dancing...
I really hope that this track will get big cuz this is undoubtedly one of the better tracks I've heard lately and this whole year...

Eric Prydz is the man.

11/10

What do you think?

Its quiet good, but it is being constantly canned on the radio all the time, and its cheapening the song to be honest.

as if i care...

I won't let the social acceptation ruin the song for me

Posted by Nell on Aug-22-2004 20:26:

love this one aswell, me and simcut were dancing to this on a revolving dancefloor friday night. "call on meeeeeeeeee!"

Posted by UWM on Aug-22-2004 21:01:

Really like this for the most part but the vocal hook repeats way too often for my liking.

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Aug-22-2004 22:19:

its very gay but it works quite well, especially at the end of the night if youre fucked and dont really care

it will turn into another lolas theme if people still play it so much

Posted by Michael19 on Aug-22-2004 23:10:

this is the worst song i have every heard in my life.

its the excact same as "so much love to give", talk about un-fucking-origingal. christ.

let me guess, seb fontaine is playing it as his last song in his sets aswell?

-10/10

I really like the song, has a very summery feel to it!

I think it works so well just because of the simplicity of it, which is refreshing to hear

this is a love or hate track

Posted by DJAntSmith on Aug-23-2004 11:01:

I like this. Very catchy and smiley!

"Call on meeeeeeee, call on me, call on meeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Posted by DJ_LOOPer on Aug-23-2004 14:21:

Arrow

Good track!! Very good! But vocal's repeat is buggin'!! If you lika Eric Prydz, I advice to listen to "Slammin'"!!! It's better than "Call on me"!!! But i don't think that this track is the hit of this summer! Hit of this summer is Koala - Imagine...

Posted by sector.30 on Aug-23-2004 15:36:

Isn't the title; Thomas Bangalter & DJ Falcon - Call On Me (Eric Prydz & Retarded Funk Remix)?

Anyway I have no shame in really liking this track, although I fear it's going to reach stupidly-overplayed status.

Posted by deibero on Aug-23-2004 20:12:

max graham played this track in panama a while ago...very nice track, very funky...the crowd loved it... i personally give it a 8/10..
it was also played by espen & elusive on there oslo nights set...
and yeah that is the correct name of the track...

So Im retarded because I gave it 11/10 which is a symbolic radicalization to show how much I like this track...

It's nice to see a person who just goes around and calls people retarded in thier face...

Go figure

I agree that this works extremely well. Vocal is catchy and when you're in a state, its the ultimate feel good track

I love Eric Prydz' remixes in general, I haven't really heard of his own productions till this one.
This is quit good, but I prefer his remixes

Nice and happy song.

8/10 to hear it on the dancefloor and give it a dance.
6/10 to listen it at home. After one time hearing this song, you have had enough of it.

Tune!

I heard this track ages ago, and its getting a lot of radio play lately, but i still love it.

I agree that it is very similar So Much Love To Give, but it is very catchy and it is a great track to dance to. I can understand why it was mistaken for a Bangalter track!

Very catchy track like most Prydz's tracks and remixes are. Him and Steve Angello are 2 of my fav Swedish producers making more techy house.

Yes and no, mp3 universe is a place where tracks with a same name and same vocal sample get easily mixed up. Thomas Bangalter has also made a similar track together with DJ Falcon using the same vocal sample from Steve Winwood - Valerie.

no, they never used the vocal sample

Steve Winwood - Call On Me (Retarded & Mafia's 2003 Mix)

Its produced by a Sweden/UK Production duo and the Swedish guy is a close friend of mine. The background story is:

Here in Sweden we had a Valborg Cruise in April, where 00 fleming played and Corsten amongst all. A friend of mine, zgr Can (Coming up with a release on Plastica Red) had a gig on the trancefloor and he is a close friend with the "Retarded" guy (Yamazaki). Yamazaki had earlier on sent this tune to him and he urged him to finish it so he could play it. And he finished it and the track never got played. haha!!

But of its star potential and feel good status it moved on and on and reached alot of people and it got released by a mp3 group and they named it Thomas Bangalter & Dj Falcon - Call On Me. Don't ask me why.

We mailed Steve Winwood and asked him if Retarded & Mafia could use the samples but unfortunately he doesn't allow anyone use his samples.

If you wan't to have a listen to the original go in to:

Steve Winwood's homepage, then go under discography and choose his solo projects.
The album is named "Talking Back to the Night" and the song is "Valerie"

I hope you guys got along and I know its not a trance tune but its so good and has a real nice feeling to it I thought it should get the appreciation it deserves and that Retarded & Mafia should get all credits for this track.

Cheers,

Omid

the reason it got confused for a falcon & bangalter track is that the similarities in structure between call on me & so much love to give is stunning .

what happend now is that eric prydz has manage to get the rights to the vocal sample. and will be now released on data, but prydz did almost nothing, he just touched it up a bit, that it why the original mix (on data records) will be called eric prydz - call on me (eric prydz vs. retarded funk mix)

Now i realize why it sounded so familiar.. Great happy summery track by mr. Prydz nonetheless..
