Fatboy - Deep Red [Full 192 Kbps]

Hello everybody

Been a while since I posted something here, but now that Ive finished my military service Ive got a tune ready. There are two versions of it and they are both basically the same song, but with different leads. With that I mean that they have almost exactly the same buildup, the same bassline etc. When I came to the part where I introduce the lead I couldnt decide which sound to go for, so I just made one version for each lead. There are some mastering differences as well, but nothing too big.

Its not the best song Ive worked on lately by far, but I just finished it off and decided to share it

Fatboy Deep Red (Original Mix) This version has a standard, trance supersaw lead, which makes it more upfront than the other mix.

Fatboy Deep Red (Calm Mix) This version has a plucked synth as the lead.

Comments are more than welcome

hey
[listening to the original mix]
start is cool
like those percs
but this melody sounds a little wierd to me
too much plays with the cutoff or something?

string is great
the pluck is nice

wow man i love the part in 1:17 how everything is jumping heh

great clap and hihats
the crash doesnt sit on the beat i think?

good melodies

string backs again

bass changes
till now excllenet job
the kick is really good

wow the second string in 3:37 is awesome

the melody is great
good sound

anyway i think this track deserves 9.5/10
(0.5 has gone becauze the melody is too much happy for me lol, and i dont really like this kinda melodies]

keep up the good job!

solid track again
nice bass percs & melodies
the calm mix is much better though. its really deeper imo. Cant stand the original saw lead

Sounds very nice! What instruments did you use to comose with and master?? It sounds VERY clear!!! Great job mastering!!!

Posted by Endre on Aug-23-2004 15:57:

you should tag the calm mix as the original because it's alot better. good stuff fatty.

Posted by Sunquest on Aug-23-2004 16:02:

both mixes are really good, the original is very eurodace ish hehe
the second is really relaxing, reminds me of the russian music they play at those russian resteraunts i go to sometimes hehe
like PPK slow version
excellent work, keep it up m8
second one is definatly the best

It's been awhile since I'v heard anything by fatboy but this one does not disappoint.
The second version is defiantly better, really liked the pluck thing as a lead. It does remind me a bit of PPK's resurrection but thats not a bad thing at all.

Great atmosphere, great sounds, great structure great tune overall

listening to the Calm Mix atm..

good stuff, lots of great sounds. that breakdown is truly breathtaking, gorgeous choirs and strings!

good melody as well, you can clearly hear the classical influences.. not entirely my style, but it works well.

haven't heard the version with the supersaw, but that pluck thingy is a bit annoying tbh. i think a more sweeping synth would sound better in combination with the other elements.

overall it's a very good production.

Thanks for the comments guys Really appreciated!
I agree with those of you that liked the second version best. I named the first one original because I finished it first, but thought it lacked some depth.

KarateKid ...huge filesize! hehe

well...Im speechless. Yeah..

hey fatboy am a big fan of Rebound.

Listening to the original.

Typical fatboy sounds, all weird and good . digging the intro so far.

bassline is cool.

1.45 comes that riff,, wich i really like, but many stuff come over it later, i prefer that riff on top.

synths are really cool here imo, not the usuall.

i remember you use Reason? i hear some malstorm fx i think, how did you do the choirs here? they are really great.

melody is really dark, should called it Ghost house or something , really liking it.

am not a fan of a second climax, unless you add something totally new.

nope i prefer the original here tnx the Hifi version.

Well my vote definitely goes to the original mix, attitude is where it is 8! Nice tune I really liked the flow of this tune, through the filtering, into breakdowns, etc. Good use of fx too!

nice track , i like this
the sine lead doesnt do much for me though, a nice trance pluck would do much better i think.

great production

Awsome as usual mate

I prefer the calm mix to the original - but they are both superb.

When are you going to get round to posting your Satellite remix & the full version of Rebound ??

Posted by Timothy on Aug-24-2004 15:44:

Nice production

Fatboy, we missed yooooooooou!

Nice tune(s), not sure which one I prefer though. Shame there couldn't be a mixture of the two somehow - Although I do think the Original is more typical Fatboy style . Melody/Percs/Synths are once again very nice sounding. That string/choir combination sounds great! Chord progression is very cool.

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed this a lot.

...og nr jeg endelig begynner fle at jeg fr til god lyd, s kommer du med dette!

Fantastic sound. The fullness of the composition amazes me, how you can get so many sounds in there without mudding it up too much, mastery of mastering

I can't really decide which of these I liked the better... but the first was definately most Fatboy the way I remember him Although this is a completely different chapter then back in the days Fatty! When I finally think I'm catching up to you, I find myself miles away! Waiting for the killer melody to skyrocket you to the stars now, for there is nothing more to it when you can produce like this!

Posted by Fatboy on Aug-24-2004 22:14:

Thanks again guys for the nice comments I used Cubase for sequencing along with several Vst synths and a Virus. For mastering I used a multiband compressor and a limiter. I don't like to eq when I master, but sort that out during mixing. Bren, I'll see if I can sort out the full remix of Satellite one of these days. I'm still waiting to send Rebound around a bit, so I'll wait a bit with that one

Posted by Jay M on Aug-24-2004 23:03:

This melody sounds really Fatboy-ish EQ-ing is well done. All clear and bright. All instruments sound a bit flat tho, except for the phased lead there. There could be some more reverb/chorus here and there? Stereo is ok. I like the bells, got those in my new not-yet-posted tune as well (already, so won't steal 'm ). Sounds good. There's the strings and the Fatboy-lead. Overall sounding pretty good!

wow, real great track.. mind if i play it in one of my sets? im really digging the pads in the breakdown hehe

nothing much to say, other than its ace

Posted by montana on Aug-26-2004 12:59:

good track, but i like the calm mix more than the original, i like that melody but the lead in the original is horrible, but otherwise, great tune

Posted by Fatboy on Aug-26-2004 18:49:

Thanks for the comments! I agree that it might sound a bit flat some places. I'm very carefull about not going overboard with modulation effects and reverb. I's very easy to end up with a muddy mix that way and I don't like that at all. I's a fine balance that's difficult to get, no doubt. Alfi, glad you want to play it. Don't mind that at all

Posted by Dr. Pils on Aug-26-2004 19:29:

Ok, I'm liking how you start off this track, with them lazer sounds...
Sets it off right away.. then a breakdown, but bangs off right away, with more laza synths, I like this, bangin... nice lead too, props mate.
