Do you want good parties, hot women, and tons of celebrities or...other Norwegians? Right now, I'm basically living in two places. Los Angeles, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They're both great, so I'll tell you about both.

LA is amazing, there's a great club scene, a lot of world class trance, and the weather is beautiful all of the time. The catch is that it's way too expensive for a lot of people to live comfortably there. Renting property is very expensive, and buying property is even worse. But there's no other place in the world where you'll see Steve Martin shopping for vegetables, like I did a couple of weeks ago. If you live outside of the LA/Beverly Hills area though, things start to get somewhat affordable.

One side note about LA though - while the party scene is good, the dating scene SUCKS. It's unbelievably bad. Don't ask me why...I haven't figured it out yet.

Then there's where I'm from, which is Wisconsin. It was basically settled by Germans and Norwegian Lutherans. The summers are scorching and the winters are unbelievably cold. There's a city not too far where I'm from that actually celebrates Syttende Mai, so that's a nice touch. (http://www.stoughtonwi.com/) There's not a whole lot to do in Wisconsin, but life is easy, people are courteous, and if you like to sail, the Great Lakes are awesome. Chicago is less than two hours away by car, and the O'Hare International is even closer...less than 1h 30m.

I'd pick LA if I were you.

if you want parties, LA/Miami/NY
if you want decent place to live try the Midwest, New England or Pacific Northwest

I'm partial to the West myself - especially New Mexico and Colorado - though I'm in Austin at the moment.

I love nature though.

everywhere

one problem with this country - there is sooo much to see. I haven't seen half of the places that I would like to. NYC is fun but I haven't done much touristy stuff there - been either there for work or visiting friends. LA is totally different - urban sprawl at it's best. I would recommend visiting Arizona, despite having lived there for 5 years - ha ha. Seriously, I would still be there if I hadn't developed allergies. Downtown Phoenix has really taken a toll over the past several decades but there are some funky neighborhoods and decent new developments. Oh, and need I mention the grand canyon? I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for the midwest - though I think midwesterners could be a bit more friendly. I would love to take a month long road trip in the summer and visit some of the quirky little towns and attractions in the states (roadsideamerica.com). I wish I could recommend a place to live but that's a big topic - I don't even know where I want to live!
