Ohio TAs

Well. who here is an OHTA? Ive been impressed by the names weve been seeing (mostly in Columbus) over the last 18 months, as far as trance DJs go. Also, hearing progressive at some local parties has really been a nice thing for me.

Well, as you mightve guessed, i live in Columbus, and I do go to Ohio State. Right now im living in a house off-campus, but that will change soon, as this area sucks. Im just wondering who else around here lives in Ohio, what you do for fun, etc.

whats up ohio buddy. I live in Akron and go to Akron U. I didn't go to OSU or OU because a few family members have breast and/or skin cancer.. so I stayed close to home to keep in touch with them constantly.

There is not much to do in Akron.. so we usually party up in Cleveland to see Armin. I've seen Armin and Darude in Cleveland.. and Armin in Columbus. I missed all Tiesto and PVD appearances (unfortunately).

The Red Zone was pretty cool down in Columbus and the parties are great around campus .

Hope more OHTA's respond.

Thought you went to Valpo, and speaking of, a Valpo grad is in my dynamics class. Me thinks she wants to become a TA here but she isnt yet.

If youre talking about Armin at Redzone last October (A week after Tiesto was there), I was also at that show. It was a great time, though he didnt play the one tune I wanted to hear at the time. Too bad about the situation with your family, but it was quite nice of you to stay where you could be near them. If you're ever gonna be in Columbus, PM me a few days in advance and we can chill or something.

I hope more OHTA's respond too as I believe there are several on this board, but they are not too active, I think

Sambo nobody knows where Valpo is, its just so much easier to say Chicago. The only reason you know it is bc you live in Chicago. Do you think everyone from Ohio is going to know where Valpo is? No.

I do, I almost went there, but they only offered to pick up about 80% of my tuition.

Wait, we've had this conversation....

go on clevelandnightlife.net for a calendar of local events. There's also a forum.

There is stuff going on pretty much every weekend and this summer was VERY busy EDM wise.

Ferry

They ALL played in Cleveland in the last six months

If you come on a new forum and your first post/thread is started with the intent of starting a flame war you're not going to get many friendly responses

Not everyone on there is a friend of trance but there's a lot of other good things going on in Cleveland if only you opened your mind; there's great progressive, house, techno, and yes sometimes trance too etc

Sup all, I'm a sophmore at Kent State and I haven't really been to a big dj show in Ohio and I would really like to sometime. About the only real raving I've done is at a local bar here in kent that used to hire out local DJ's every saturday night. Of course, it was always either house and drum and bass and they stopped it b/c not enough people were coming to it
I've heard good things about Abasso up in Cleveland, so hopefully I'll check that out sometime in the near future.

Posted by tribu on Sep-05-2004 03:47:

Dont call it raving :P. There hasnt been a true rave in the spirit of the word in Ohio for years but call it partying, going out, whatever. If you ever want to make the 90 minute drive down to Columbus, drop me a PM and Ill organize a meetup if it isnt already in the works.

You need to meet Evan from Spin cycle music. He lives in Kent, right next door to ECC and Panini's he has wicked house parties, oups sorry to break the news, but it's mostly house as well :P But anyone who brings records can play.

Hiram is only 40 miles from Cleveland. Worth the trip on weekends.

Cleveland has a lot going on but most of you prefer to deny it because it's not pure trance. Well guess what nowhere in the usa has straight trance it's always a mix of many things.

Did you ever go to the old roller dome parties? I saw Sandra Collins there a few years ago, the night of the infamous doing coke off the record as its spinning night. Not to say I wasn't pumped full of chemicals that night either Anyways, that was a fun night, full of bad mixing

Oh I've heard many stories of her being coked up...

Myself I've only been in ohio for 3 years so haven't been to many of the classic parties from back in the day :P

What I do know is that Sandra Collins played in Cleveland back in February at moda and went to Abbasso for after hours .... to quickly proceed at quicking everyone's ass at Tetris on the nintendo on the big screen tv !
Later Jay a guy who played against her told me that while in the game he so wanted to turn over to her and say I'm so f***ed up right now I honestly cant play correctly or else I'd be kicking your ass
I unfortunately had left before she showed up at Abbasso so none of this I actually experienced what a bummer.
