-- My first gig...
My first gig...
a party for my frat...
i had fun but it fucking pissed me off... the thing is, i went into it with high expectations cause all my friends were like, so many people are gonna be there and they're gonna go fucking nuts...
well there were a fair amount of people there, almost 100.
my mixing was flawless. my tracklisting was sick. a few people went up to me and asked me where they could see me regularly, but it's fucking college and everyone's too damn stuck up to give up their inhibitions and enjoy somthing that's not dave matthews or biggie.
the worst part was these kids kept telling me, yo put on rap, we're getting requests to turn the 'techno' off. so fucking pissed off...
overall though, the gig gave me so much confidence, because i was mixing on a shitty mixer with shitty sound with people yelling at me telling me to play rap and i still mixed perfectly and played a sick set.
fuckin A.... hope your first gigs were more fun.

Don't let the little rap bitches get you down. I hate that. Thats awesome you played a flawless set and it sounds like you do real well under pressure. Keep up the good work. I wish I worked that well under pressure like that.

I think everyone had the "put on some more rap" problem. I did that for a house party, know what actually works is House....when everyone is drunk. Drop some house and ppl are like this isn't bad, then as they get drunker, change the style

^PS. my first gig was spinning trance at a Rock/Punk/Ska concert. 600 ppl, hows that for variety.

| Did you feel any type of confidence when they asked you that? |

just look at it as a learning experience... forget about the crowd, and what they wanted ... seriously ... you went out and "performed" which in itself is hard ...
congrats man ... it's a big step ...
