If someone insults your favorite artist...

Do you get instantly protective, aggressive and pretty-damn-much annoyed?

I know some of you go like that if Prodigy is insulted (but how will you then describe their new album? ), and it happens to me if someone insluts Shpongle, or BT.

But how about you?

I get annoyed, I guess, but I rarely do anything since people have different tastes.

However, when people spread false accusations etc. that's an entirely different matter.

i get annoyed when people bash edm, when they listen to commercial hiphop or pop or something like that. its fine with me if people just dont like it and have heard it. but ignorant people who bash "video game music" etc piss me off. but then i wonder..why be angry? to each his own...and its alot better to chuckle to my self knowing that im cooler than that person for not being such a sheep. thats better than arguing about something you will not win.

It's damn near impossible for me to be non-angry when people say stuff like "Yeah, but the music YOU listen to isn't music and it doesn't take any talent to make it, cause anyone can press buttons"
So how do you manage?

rap IS edm, and there is nothing more simple than rap tracks
its mostly a 5 second loop for 3 something minutes with added sound effects like scractching noises, moaning, yeeeaaaaaah, and stuff like that

I'll go along the same lines with Mystery here. I might get annoyed but not really angry because there's no point of getting angry about tastes in music. Tastes differ. I can respect everyone's opinions if they have a reason to insult or tell false things about my fav artists. If not, i can surely let them be in their own miserable little world without the need to get mad about it.

i got pretty pissed off when i sent my roommate some edm music and he starts going around saying i have bad taste in music while i hear him turn up his piece of sh*t collection of mp3s which consist of none other than crappy rap, initial d songs(those stupid songs with some japanese guy singing) and cheesy dj sammy type stuff. and oh yes, i have to hear that heaven song a lot since he likes it.

I hate it when ppl do this. Most of the time its just ppl that
"hate" things that arent their musical tastes. And to bash waht they dont like, alot of the time they just pull reasons & statements outta their ass. I've learned to ignore it, it's certainly pathetic.

To offer your opinion about you taste and thoughts on other DJs is fine, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But slurs & derrogatory comments about artists is pathetic. When you insult artists, you insult the fans for being fans. So obviously, ppl will get upset.

I, honestly, do not care. My musical opinions are not the only ones out there.

The only thing that bothers me is when people say "trance sucks" or something similar. I'll admit, there is some trance that is lousy, but saying it is all bad is ridiculous. I guess that only bothers me because I put music into 2 categories. Like and Don't like. *shrug*

Depends how they do it. If they actually put some effort into their criticism I won't mind, however if they resort to the same overused cliches or plain childish insults it does get a bit on my nerves. But in the end it's not really worth getting worked up over.

People are entitled to their own opinion.. Usually i just don't bother if someone is insulting some of my favorite artists.. If i know some facts that can prove the insulter wrong i may write a response to get him pwned

i really couldn't care less if someone shits on my fav artist, they've got their own opinion.

I totally agree, the people who say "EDM is s**t" usually dont know what they are talking about(at least that is my experience). I have no problem with people not liking EMD, but its a little annoying when they bash the music only because they've heard a dj sammy track and didnt like it.

i dont give a fuck what people think! they dont have to like it. it wont decrease the quality the next time i hear something from the arist(s). thats why i express my opinions fully.

I find it annoying when someone bashes what i like and they like something crap. Or more to the point. Something I don't like! lol.

i dont give a shit if anyone disses who i like.

i.e. torontotrance hates ATB but i dont care as im not too fond of him myself.

Rock fans especially bore by criticising trance. You dont even listen to it, now go sod off and finger a few metal strings. Idiots. But the new prodigy album is excellent. Not as good as Jilted Generation, but it is good!

Depends, if random people are talking about it I don't care as most people are ignorant about edm.
If someone is addressing me directly that's another issue.
I do tend to try correct any false rumours or statements.

Depends on the nature of the criticism. If someone if insulting something with a really stupid argument, then I bite their fucking head off. If they're like Ishkur, and are slating something for a reason that makes sense to them, then I'm not bothered.

its not like im going to bash someone for not liking the same artist(s) as me....but when they tell false info i go up to them and be like shut the fuck up if u dont know what ur talking about!

i definitely get annoyed and in the mood to flame back, but then again i agree with Mr. Mystery in that people have different tastes but still that is no reason to insult the artists i like.
