Dancing

Alright, being a person who doesn't know how to dance outside of slow dancing and grinding, I've always been curious. What's just a good generic dance? Something not complicated and has a lot of steps, just something that looks alright going to a beat.

Any help is appreciated.

left heel. both heels. right heel. both heels. etc.

as your heels hit the floor bob your head with the rhythm.

Move to the music in a way where it feels good. If you look stupid, people will just think you're high anyway.

Or... you could just do what makes you feel good.

Hey, let me ask you a question.

Would you rather make an ass of yourself, or maybe have an idea of what you're doing?

Dance lessons = $ and I'm not looking for anything special.

And it's not like I'm asking for relationship advice.

Go to a club, watch how other people dance, pick someone who you think has the same amount of coordination as you and doesn't look like a total dorf dancing, and try to copy what he or she does. Voila!

Oh and get buzzed. Will make it a lot easier for you to relax and let go and dance your night away.

There's always line dancing, too.

Nah. It's a little dance style that became popular here in Melbourne, when electronic music first started getting really popular. I had just started going to underage events back then... I never see anyone doing it in clubs anymore, but apparently it still happens in raves. There have been a few threads on it in the COR and the Aussie forum with links to video clips and stuff. It's a bit of a classic in the scene down here.

but on a brighter note- the best way to dance is to feel the music, get over your fear, and flow the best way you know you can.
Also- practice in your room, alone. Listen to a Dj you like and just go with what you're feeling. Then bust out those moves on the dancefloor. Nothing too complicated though......i get annoyed at peeps on the dancefloor when i think they are forcing it. Especially girls who think they are hot and have to dance like some choreographed slut on a britney spears video

back to..dancing, i guess

im in FXP hub, i went there after essentialsets died, didnt know it was fxp that attacked them
it looks like everyone else did because ive seen 00 terabytes of stuff being shared here at peak times

discussion of hubs is against forum rules aint it?

as for dancing, do what the other guy suggested and go to a aclub and watch people dance. pick up what you like and incorporate it into your own style.

if you ever feel self concious about your dancing, go to a psy/goa party and watch them dance. after that the guys in taht fatboy slim video look normal....

I let women dance. They look better doing it. A guy that dances well is stereotyped as gay. Especially if you do that Ricky Martin pelvis shit.

I would suggest mastering the "head bob" - where you stand with your other guy friends, drink something, watch the ladies, and bob your head slightly to the beat.

How to dance to techno

You'll notice in the above video that only one person (who is influenced by many a drug) is dancing. The others are either laughing at him or doing "the head bob".

I think the important thing to know is that when you're at a club enjoying the music, you'll move. And everyone around you will too, and they won't care what you look like. And who gives a shit if they do. If they're there to critique the dance style of others, they're just a little to into being "cool". Go out and just break it down however you want man.

I disagree, I've seen some great male dancers in the hard house and trance scene, heck, i was in a club dance crew for 2 years 2001/2002, was awesome.
