just a question
i now i should be asking this in the dj booth area but i felt ya might give me better answers
ok i have decided to buy a set of turntables but i wanted some opinions
i am looking at buying
DM1001 EX mixer
TT-1650 turntables
and wanted to know if these are good for a beginer like myself with little to no dj experiance
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...11&referrerid=2
Basically they say the DM1001 is a good mixer since it has a nice layout and features but it will start falling apart 7-12 months later.
well dawm if that mixer goes out in 7 months then maybe i should try something else then
how about
STR8-80 turntables
SMX 3 channel mixer
i would forum serch but i can ever find what i need

What it comes down to is how much your willing to spend and how much/ how long of a commitment you plan to make to music. If you are just doing it for a hobby, the starter packages at guitar center will do fine. If you are this for the long haul then I would suggest shopping for gear that is known to be durible (lasts a of years) and of course reliable during sets.
2 technics and a 600 ya cant go wrong with and are good products for the money. If you have some serious cash get a A/H Xone 92 and a pair of mk5's
Don't get str8-80's man - they're not very good for the money you spend and I've heard a lot of "word-of-mouth" complaints about them. If I were you I would save some money and buy some technics 1200's. You'll never go wrong with these. They're perfect if you're serious about dj'ing...
SMX mixers are ok if you get the 501's, the 301's are more for beginners - but the 501'S i think are almost $350-$400 (i think) so for that price I'd just go with quality, Vetax 275's. My Vestax was $400 bucks but it's all i think i'll ever need.
you see im not sure if i just want to this as a hobby i have never done it i just really like it and wanted to learn i looks like something that i could realy get in to i dont know if that made any sence
as far as the cash aspect i have saved up enough to get some really good stuff but i want to make a purchase that is both good for the long haul if need be but also wont completely drain me of my savings but ill look into the technics
well check it out - if you do invest in good quality equipment like technics 1200's and a vestasx 275 mixer, for example, they don't depreciate in value much at all - especially if you take good care of them.
However try to resell some entry level equipment and you'll be very lucky to get half of what you originally spent (should you decide dj'ing is not for you).
**also don't spend more than $400 (each) for technics or a vestax 275 mixer if you decide on either - i've seen technics 1200's for example on the web for up to $600 each and that's riCOCKulous...
well you do have a point in the resale value of equipment so i might find myself a good deal on the technics i just have to look around for some turntables sales
I have a pair of STR8-60's that have held up pretty well for the past three years. They aren't great, but they did the job and I learned the basics on them. I am going to upgrade to Technics as soon as my finacial situation gets better. I feel kinda guilty having my Tascam X9 connected to those decks, but hopefully it's only short term.
one thing in mind :
Dont get those "dj in a box" deals.. not worth your money and lacks alot on what you need. oh yah and get direct drive turntables.
The type of decks i would get would be technics, all the way man. some 1200's at least. soon enough i would be able to upgrade to some mk5's. i own a pair of numark tt200's (which are not bad at all, great to start out with) and I learned the basics through them. But if you want the best, you're going to have to spend a great amount of cash. But worth it though. =)
Yea man, Listen to these guys (or Gals) dont go for the dj in a pack, I got my Technics, one of my friends got the Numark Set and damn it they suck. IMO...well, he has been wanting to trade me, but hell no..come on..what u should do is save up some cash, once in a while buy some reckids...then get the headphones, once u got that...and saved up ALOT of money, get the technics..Dont get an expensive mixer yet, since u wont be doing all the tricked out stuff just yet..currently i have a 30 dollar mixer (4 channel) that only reason i got it. Later imma upgrade to a pioneer or a Vestax...os something better...only time can tell...Well good luck man, And practice...cant stress that enough
thanxs ya definantly gave me some good advise ive completely got the idea of box sets out of my head im looking around for a place i go buy some good shit who knows maybe i can find it cheaper around hear than online
does anyone know any stores that sell turntables and mixers are the dallas fort worth area??
besides guitarcenter <---- no help
Have u checked Ebay...i get a bunch of my reckids there...cheap, only shippin sucks but hey, rather get my tunage than not..i got my techs off of there...check it out
I would check out the technics up for sale on Ebay and don't pay more than $250 for a used one thats a fair price you should be able to get it cheaper if you wait awhile. Make sure the person has good feedback and the pics are of the actual unit not some pics they pulled off the net and you shouldn't have any problems. I'd also reccomend shipping them insured if you go that route. I got both of my techs for right around $500 shipped and they're as good as new. Good luck.
