Why do we have to go through the bull**** of not being able to buy vinyl!

I've been trying to get a hold of

Josh Wink - Superfreak (freak) for about a year now.

fucking bullshit, when i hear this song i get upset.

Can someone in the states head over to ovum records and tell someone to print some fucking copies. Tell them people have money they want to give to you in exchange for a piece of plastic! A fucking transaction is all i ask. Or better yet...........reply to e-fucking-mail.

If any american runs into this vinyl please pick it up.

Thank you
Vince

I'd love to be able to laugh at you, but oh boy, the number of times I go through this ...

After about two years, I'm still trying to get a copy of SHOKK "Isn't it all a little strange".

Generally, given enough perseverence, you can get most things, but it is often associated with a significant premium and a long wait.

I usually scour the internet as much as I can in a vain attempt to find it.

As a last resort, I use www.gemm.com

It's a good service, and it's true they have a huge catalogue (they themselves are not dealers, but thousands of dealers list through them).

The problem with this is that ALOT of the dealers have the product available *on their catalogues* but *not in stock*. This means that once you place your order, sometimes you have to wait up to three months to get your vinyl. The good news is they don't charge you until they get it.

... still waiting for my copy of "Bring on the pain - Walt" ordered through one of the Gemm listed company. Used this company successfully in the past, but a long wait is usually required.

The good news is that Gemm will list each stores statistics (eg. Elephant Records has failed to fill 40% of it's orders in the last six months) so you know if you're wasting your time.

But sometimes, it's better than nothing.

It is annoying, but then in the same moment, its almost enjoyable - looking for that record is half of what this game is all about in my opinion.

^^^^ wikid track.. so much energy .. it is one of those tracks that put a chill up my back.. Mmmm

Jay

p.s I would never give up my copy

I have a love-hate relationship with the vinyl industry. The fact that they ignore profits by printing a limited amount of copies bothers me -- I would want to profit on every record instead of making a limited amount, selling them at normal price and then letting other people profit off their rarity. The other edge of the sword, I like people not being able to get copies of what I have. When I throw down a track I want people to say "damnit, I have been looking for that" and them not being able to get it.

I guess these issues are what new age Djing is all about.......originality and exclusivity....Thats why I started using Final Scratch...I get alot of music from more reliable sources...But Djing lately is about spining your own productions.

You've got to take into consideration the losses they can incur if the release is not a success. How many 12" do you think they've got in a warehouse that they can't sell for shit?

The fact is, the demand for 12" vinly is dropping fast - you can't blame the labels for being cautious.

Posted by Nemesis44 on Sep-02-2004 13:48:

Not only that, as far as I know the release wasn't actually completely official which means that they are actually testing the demand for it.

Some companies also put out limited press stuff to generate interest for a track and then hit everyone with the full release some time later.
In some cases this is due to the wishes of the artist etc.

Cheers
Nem

vinyl sales r up by a third this year so no that is not a fact i also dont understand why they dont print more when there is a demand for a certain record.
These record companys r always moaning that there looseing money
