Evil1 Is this the worst ripoff ever?

And I thought "Lolo - Why?" vs "Sasha - Xpander" was bad!

http://w1.184.telia.com/~u18411604/ripoff.mp3

First track = Unknown Source - Nadjanema (Airbase remix)
Second track = JVD - From russia with love

What can I say...

About 3 or 4 years ago there was this guy who called himseld DJ Mystic and what this guy did is that he ripped off almost every possible trance tune out as the time and released them as they were his own. He actually made trance album cds which include all of his ripoffs. He didnt even bother change the original name of the tune among the tunes he ripped you can fined:
DJ Mystic out of the blue
DJ Mystic Insomnia

Well you get the idea

Well I never heard about the 2nd track until today, and it seems new... Airbase's remix is about 1 year old.

Posted by BelgianGuru on Aug-30-2004 16:25:

Well have you ever heared that ripoff version. I forgot the title, I think it's In my memory or something from tiesto vs another song, they are identical lol, I still wonder who ripped off who.

edit

Tiesto - Urban Train and Kid Vicious - Reform

/edit

But apparently Tiesto gave credit to the Kid somewhere in font size 2 ina corner on the vinyl or something..

didn't Kid help tiesto make suburban train? i thought someone said this a while back on this forum

Posted by erdega on Aug-30-2004 17:00:

pretty funny

Posted by montana on Aug-30-2004 17:14:

about reform / suburban train

official explanation (the nice version): tiesto was inspired after remixing reform, and borrowed the melody and ronald & tijs prouduced suburban train together

what really happened (ronald van gelderen has said this): tiesto made suburban train and stole the melody, and ronald found out and made tijs credit him on tha track, that is why on the in my memory abum it says DJ Tisto & Ronald Van Gelderen - Suburban Train

I know Tiesto did a remix of Reform but it sounded just like a mashup of Suburban Train & his remix of Jan Johnston - Flesh, like a quick half an hour job. If that was done before S.T. I suppose he could've been inspired by that and converted it into his own track, but S.T. bore more resemblance to his remix of Silence than his remix of Flesh (used alot of the same samples)... but has a similar melody to Reform.

And I just managed to confuse myself, lol.

Would be interested to know the order in which they were produced...

//edit - thx montana

Hahaha they're hilariously similar! JVD (which is an alias of Ron van den Beuken I think?) probably heard the Unknown Source track (which is over a year old) and forgot about it... then remembered the melody and thought it was his own genius creation. I've done that before

But note for note... that's almost too accurate to be a mistake...

Prefered the original mix of Nadjanema anyway.

JVD is Ron van den Beuken's partner in crime, had some releases a few years ago. He also spins under the Ron van den Beuken name, I think

Posted by noikeee on Aug-30-2004 17:43:

he even managed to rip off the track title from matt darey's old classic

Well that melody is stolen from Lost Train- Gamemaster anyway, so both of them should shut the hell up.

Posted by Massive84 on Aug-30-2004 18:38:

speaking about rippoffs.

don't you all think that Endre-i kill for you(probspot remix) sound quite near Audioholics-external key?

Lost Train? Surely you mean Lost Tribe?

I'd love to hear a comparison sample too as afaik they sound nothing like eachother...

Posted by Sinnica Hax on Aug-31-2004 03:36:

nothing can beat the original mix of Nadjanema anyway

Does Tiesto make any of his own music himself? lol

Posted by BelgianGuru on Aug-31-2004 06:57:

I think it goes something like this :

Tiesto : Hey mr. engineer, I want a really fat sound, with a beat behind it.. Oh and a good bass also yes..
And then the engineer tweaks for a while, tiesto says if he likes it or not, what he wants changed, and 'he' made his song

No I don't think it's that bad, but I keep reading that his engineer does a lot though. But those are no facts, so I'll just stfu and go hide

Its a smart move, the engineer probably wouldn't look as good on the cover.

the fact is that tijs have had a lot of help from his blackhole artists like dj montana (one track or two), cor fijneman (he has stopped helping afaik), geert huinink (this guy does the most work) and also dj waakop reijers on the tracks on "just be"
