university of texas - austin
anyone attend the university of texas - austin? just wondering because i think im going to go to school there next year and would like to ask a few questions about the school. i will be transfering as a junior?
bah, dont go to tu. Go to Texas A&M, music scene is no where near the same, but its great!!! Love being an Aggie!!!
OK sips, don't get your panties in a wad, I'm just kidding. tu is a great school, i just like stirring up the school rivalry.

Class of '96 / '98
im just wondering where to live? because i know a student would know the best places to live right off campus. best i mean best parties, close to everything you get the drift?
ya, go straight to A&M. don't bother with those tea-sips.
College Station (the city of Texas A&M) has like 120,000 population with about 55,000 students (A&M + community college) thats a damn high student to other person ration, parties galoure!
though, ya austin is a great city too. i'm moving there next week.

I graduated A&M and I would say UT is a great school to go to. They outperform A&M in a lot of areas. The city of Austin is great too, but when I was deciding between the two schools, it was the people that made up my mind to go to College Station. I hate hippies - I really do. Austin is full of them. I am not big on homeless people everywhere asking for money either. Austin has them too (probably about 10% of their population from what I can see). Girls, hands down A&M has them beat on that.
If you're going for a great education and a good fraternity / sorority population, UT is definitely a good idea. Like I said, I would have gone there too.
i was stupid i went to ITT-Tech go to UT austin its the shit, thats were i was going to go but i might just go to UT arlington if i dont like ITT-Tech
i think the guy is asking where he could live in austin, not if he should go to A&M or UT austin.
I goto UT here. Feel free to give me a PM and I'll try to help you out man.
UT > A&M
Dont go to A&M for the love of GOD!
Stick with UT, Austin is a bitchin town. Theres always something goin on and theres people from all walks of life there. I'm planning on moving out there when I graduate from Tech, which by the way is a bad ass school as well(although the location isn't to choice).
Just to make this thread more interesting (and sorry for taking this entire thread in the wrong direction).....

You can find your fair share of homeless people everywhere. Austin is a great city full of a lot of young people and a great nightlife. Personally I love it and plan to move there someday.
I said Austin is a nice city. I meant it. I don't like hippies and I don't like being asked for money. The city has an abundance of that -- above the national average. Not my cup of tea.
I am glad you like it and that is awesome you're moving there - to each their own
yeah i am just looking for info on the school life there. you know you can read shit online but i would MUCH rather hear it from the students themselves
mmmm....bums.....so many of them
best way to avoid them is to stay in the campus

I have many friends that go to UT. Most all live on West Campus, that's basically party central. It's were all the frat's are as well as sororities. Definately live there and not the Riverside area. Besides it would be better for walking to class as opposed to taking a bus.
I go to school in San Marcos at Texas State and I absolutely love it. Your best bet between all schools is for the education (your major). All schools have better programs then others in certain types of majors, keep that in mind. Don't just narrow it down to UT cause' it's "cool."
Oh yeah, whoever said that College Station has more woman then Austin has no clue.
Austin I think was voted one of the prettiest cities, and I know for a fact a lot of Playboy Models come from this town. And if you think Austin is full of em', goto San Marcos for one day and you will dehydrate from all the saliva you will lost at the constant drueling when in the middle of the campus watching all the blonde tanned no clothes wearing ladies. Its Great.
Hope that helped, all the best.

UT is the f'n sheezy man and I dunno what you A&Mers are all talking about the rivalry, our rivalry is with those blockheads from that dustbowl OU, thats who we hate, we don't dislike Aggies at all. I kinda feel sorry for Aggies, I think alot of them are bitter because they just barely missed out on getting admitted to UT, ya know those kids that if they only had 30 more points on their SAT or a few more points on their GPA they'd be at UT but they're not so they get bitter. Anyway nice places to live around UT are West Campus or North Campus i prefer North Campus since its not so frat/sorority oriented and theres a few other nice places basically if you can hop on the Lake Austin and the Enfield Road UT shuttles and check out the places around that shuttle route its alot closer than riverside but its more $$$. I really wouldn't reccomend living at Riverside at all, but don't get me wrong some people do love living out there. Well its getting late so i gotta go, and for the record OU still sucks.

At least at A&M - Houston/Dallas/Austin/San Antonio are within a really quick ride (makes getting to all the different DJ's much easier). |

Now for some reason Tech does have a lot of hot girls, although I think thats a Texas thing in general...we sure do grow em nice and pretty here!!!! |
