For US Citizens 18 or older

Remember to go out and vote, whichever side or direction you believe in. I'm looking into getting an absentee ballot (hoping I'm not missing the deadline yet, heh) because I'm living out of country.

Every individual vote counts, don't be apathetic.

not really if you really think about it with the whole electoral vote.

state with the highest population gets more electoral votes.... so that statement isnt 100% true.

Yes, this is also completely true, unfortunately. :P Fucking US voting system.

At least it's something, though.

If you think about it logically this isnt really the problem. It makes sense that the states with higher populations have higher proportional votes. More people are represented and thus to give a state with a population of 8 million and equal amount of electoral votes as one that has 40 million seems kind of unfair (in my opinion). Also in my opinion, the problem with our current system is that winner-take-all feature of the electoral college. The winner of the popular voting takes all of the electoral votes of a state. Thus is CandidateA wins StateX (with 21 electoral votes) 48% to 42% for CandidateB (10% is reserved for error/non-major candidates), then Candidate A takes all 21 votes. I believe the solution to this is proportional awarding on electoral votes. In this system, CandidateA would take 48% of the states 21 votes, CandidateB would take 42%, etc. This seems like a proper and fair way to keep the electoral college in existence while also making it a more representational system...

EDIT: A certain 3rd party candidate supports this and other electoral reforms, but as I figure everyone has figured out whom I support by now, I wont bother plugging him here

i think it's usually 30-45 days before the election.. um..so that would make it...like sept 30 or something i think...

i dunno its too late for math right now...

Oh, i'm a fuckin idiot and a waste of space for exercising my right not to vote. Do i REALLY have to choose one or the other? No i do not. Most people have to choose one or the other. You either hate kerry or you hate bush. I am not Republican. I am not a Democrat. I belive both have good points in a broad range of topics. So for me it does not matter who wins. Now for me to vote does it actually make a differnce, for me personally? No it does not because either way one of those 2 are going to win. IF i felt strongly for one of the other then i would vote. Since i don't feel strongly for neither i will excerise my right not to vote in this win-win situation. So the only thing i can say to you is shove it up your ass.

I'm all for scrapping winner takes all.

Colorado has a referendum to allocate EVs proportionally, and I hope it passes.

I disagree with Bush on the enviornment, judicial nominees, the deficit/national debt, and neocon policies like child torture.

I disagree with Kerry on trade and gun control - though I'm all for strong background checks at gun shows and elsewhere.

I thought you were for Bush?

Actually dotn' vote if you're going to vote for bush. Leave the voting to people with a little judgment.

eh, I was before the war but my opinion was partial. I knew his interests, I knew it was more than meets the eye, but frankly the administration blatantly failed horribly.

I'm not a big fan of kerry either, but I know where he stands on the subject, and I know he's not bush. Thats probably the most simple, basic answer I can give. It gets much more complex, but frankly, im burnt out on it all.

Maybe you should consider researching some of the third party candidates before casting your final vote

tired of people encouraging the younger generation to vote, especially mtv. as if they weren't already competent or would somehow forget. cut the crap already.
