Beirut curious...

hey-

I'm completely disinterested in politics - so don't even start talking about it. I'm just interested in trance and particularly the israeli electronic scene. From everything I've listened to, I'm in love...

anyone got any good sets to share? something to really get me acquainted with the israeli trance scene? I hear the stuff on bu99fm on weekend nights - which is great and all - but if you got some good sets, or a better radio station, share...

there's this one jungle stations on 1290 AM or soemthing near that that we pick up late at night when the lebanese station goes off the air. surprisingly good...

anything'd be appreciated... peace

It really depends on the style you are looking for, is it the "typical" Israeli psy trance or do you look for the uplifting kind of trance?

genre? im not too sure about the names but groups like squarepusher, underworld, chemical brothers (live set on bu99fm), sex in dallas... whatever u wanna call that...

if i remember right, there's a DJ on bu99fm called DJ spikes ... "nightplay" or something like that... that shit kicks ass.....

hey - (before going on I gotta say thanks for being so accepting)...

when u say psy-trance, if u mean Robert Gittelman/Infected Mushroom, then no.. I respect gittelman and all but it's not really my genre..

I'm really into shit like squarepusher or aphextwin (not the ambient cuts - the more moving beats) - it's not quite jungle, but not exactly melodic...

i also like sets like the chemical brother's one on bu99fm... i have no clue what to call that genre but it's really good.. i could send u a copy/sample if u want...

what do u recommend?

Well around here we have Radio Jerusalem101FM which have 2 vetrens...
the first is Ori levi who gives a 100 min" housey digweed\sometimes even oakenfoldy kinda sets every friday 23:00-24:40,he is a pro when it comes to mixes and i recorded a lot of his sets beck in the day...
the second one is "After Party",im not sure about the times but i do know its a 3 hours Psy-trance show that can be booring at times but worth recording and listening at other times,the show sometimes have guests and special mixes from Astral Projection,Yahel,Skazi,Domo Records and alot Psy-Trance albums reviews from Israel and around the world and "best of the year" specials(i have the best from 2002 and it rocks)...I liked this show cuz it also play some exlusive tracks from young guys with guitars who are tryin' to get in the scene.
besides that all the rest around here is crap...checkout the streat @ http://101fm.tapuz.co.il/play.asp (sorry for the quility...if you want the times just ask)

I don't listen to any radio station since i have ADSL
If you are lookin' for psy stations i also reccomend some of Winamp'S stations.

i can recommend you the shows broadcasted at "Radio Haifa" every friday
2 shows, one from 19:00-22:00 and the second 20:00-24:00

the first show is DJ Guy Federman's show. it's much better then the second one.he playes mostly uplifting and a bit progressive
.all the newest tunes are played there.great show
the second show called "Club" is more for the house lovers,mostly playing NY house and latino house and dancefloor tunes,but also a bit vocal and uplifting trance.
this show is more commercial ,though you can here sometimes some good stuff there too.
so tune-in every friday from 19:00-24:00 for 5 hours of great music.

the problem is that you can only recieve it by radio only in Tel-Aviv and around it. thanx god i live in Tel-Aviv

for example -right now -, there is a cool program with electro stuff,
in wendsdays in 13:00 and in 22:00 (or 20:00) & also somewhere in evening monday there are Psy-Trance shows.
in Saturday in 15:00 there is the best Reggea show with Tat-Mudab.
in Friday around 19:00 great stuff between break-beat & drum&bass, also there is that show called "Infusia" where you can get 2 hours of pure drum & bass (i think its somewhere in the 2:00 at thursday) ..
and man this list can go on an on...

well when you consider the countries in the middle east: Syria, Jordan, Egypt, KSA, etc. I think any station in Israel is better than the whole mid-east.

I suggest you guys check out: VibeLebanon.com and MixFM.com.lb . VibeLebanon's all electronic, but MixFM is only weekend nights and some weeknights. Usually it's pop-trance but sometimes they got d&b/jungle. another station to try is RML (www.rml.com.lb). Sort of like MixFM but the stream's shit.
