Oceanseeker-Global Translations #1
I started DJing a few days ago, but after almost 72 hours straight of learning, and transferring over my producer knowledge, I practiced and made a playlist. Then, this set came out of it. This is my first set, as a producer, I know there is a lot of improvement to be made, but anyways, if I could get your opinion, that would be awesome =].
A few amateur songs, but mostly professional.
Global Translations #1
By: Charlie Winters (Oceanseeker)
1. Armin van Buuren - Precious
2. Firewall - Sincere (Pulser Remix)
3. Mark Otten - Tranquility
4. Nu-NRG - Dreamland (Whirloop Remix)
5. Oceanseeker - Protect Me
6. Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Markus Schultz Coldharbour Mix)
7. Nickelson - Ying (Solid Globe Remix)
8. Solid Globe - Sahara
9. Moby - Why does my heart feel so bad (Ferry Corsten Remix)
The concept behind this set is mostly uplifting, ATRC comes as a break song 2/3, just to relax a bit, and to finish off, with a good old epic trance song, enjoy.

I'm oputting it on my list to dl and then listen. It may a take a little while though. Tracklist looks good and i like the concept.

Wow
You say its your first set ever.
Nice mix. Some transactions can be a bit smoother but i think we can hear a lot from u.
Mr Marcellos
what can i say mate. for a first mix that was amasing. i couldnt beleive it. i remember my first mix, and it was no where near that. it actually took me quite a long time to get up to that standard. well done.
here is my analysis then
tune selection - was generally very good. quite a few old tunes in there, but are all quality tunes. on a personal note, i prefer the g&d mix of "as the rush comes" and the original mix of "dreamland", but that is just my personal preference.
beatmatching - was very good for your a first time. all of the basics are pritty much in place and u know what u r doing. Most of the mixes where not 100% perfect, but that will come in time with more and more practice.
transitions - although beatmatching was very good, the actual transitions seemed very rushed to me (especially the mix between track 3 and 4). Some tunes where also not brought in at the right time, or with any flow and you need to work on your levels when mixing. there where a few tunes where the next tune came in much louder than than the previous.
flow of mix - when i am djing, i like to gradually get more energitic/harder towards the end of my set. to be honest, this mix didnt really do that, and i think it would be grately improved just by moving a couple of tracks around.
althogher mate, i was very impressed. it takes a lot of tallent to learn what you have learnt in just a few days. everything i have mentioned is just me being picky and i hope that the comments will help you improve as a dj. like many other things, djing takes a lot of time and effort to get right, so i am sure, with a lot more practice that u will get to a really high standard one day.
keep up the good work. ian
An enjoyable mix.
The transition between Sincere and Tranquility could be a little better. I think its the melodies that don't work. It just doesn't flow like the Precious and Sincere transition.
As far as the tracks go, they are good. I guess it always depends upon one's taste. I like some of the harder tracks like Armin van Buuren - Precious, Nickelson - Ying (Solid Globe Remix), and Solid Globe - Sahara, but I'm not much into the softer stuff. I think ATRC has seen its better days. I also don't think to highly of, what i consider, novelty tracks like 'Moby - Why does my heart feel so bad'. To me, novelty tracks just don't seem credible.
I look forward to more of your mixes. I hope my comments help.
BTW excellent work on Protect Me. It ain't no novelty track.
Link is down.
