need help on connecting yamaha keyboard to computer
hi, i connected my yamaha keyboard to the computers sound card through MIDI connection, and turned on the keyboard, yet there was no new hardware found or any sort of the computer recognizing the keyboard (i dont know if it even should recognize it, considering the fact its a 1987 built keyboard...lol) but i thought it should at least recognize a midi hardware found. ANyway, im pretty sure the connection part is right...now how can i record songs from the yamaha onto the computer? is there some sorta software or anuything of that sort that communicates with my midi port and allows me to capture sound from it? thanks...
First thing first: MIDI is a connection that makes your keyboard act as one big machine that passes notes, NOT music! If you wanna make music on your keyboard with onboard sounds, you should use the line out and connect it to your line in.
If you wanna do it with MIDI, you gotta have some synths. You can record something nicely with Reason or Cubase SX
ahhh i c....thanks alot man...so after connecting it through line in/line out like u said, should i just record from plain old Windows Sound Recorder?
That is ONE crappy piece of software! Rather use Cool Edit, Audition or Wavelab!
alright kool thanks
thanks
two posts to just say thanks?
