Shame / Disagreement ARE you and armchair raver???

I dont understand some of the members of this forum..they seem to know a lot about trance but they dont pop pills or even attend raves....they just download music from the net.....

Why dont some of you get out and about and learn to live the experience rather than just downloading paul van dyk!

How many rap concerts have you been to? How many country concerts? Why don't you go live the experience before judging the music.

Posted by sikrav on Sep-05-2004 07:32:

i went to a 50 cent concert cos there were heaps of chicks there and my mate did security at the stadium so i got in for free

1.) Not everyone here "pops pills." I'm willing to bet only a small percentage. Most of us here are capable of having a damn good time without the need to enhance it.

2.) Many, many people here do not download. In fact, the majority of the folk here do attend clubs on a regular basis, and most have probably seen Paul van Dyk live.

Oh, and that room-rave comment... I second that. I'm quite guilty of dancing my ass off all the time.

I'm always head-bobbing or whatever the hell you call it. Once a song gets good, I'll move my body. If it continues to improve, my arms will... move.

Loveparade SF next month!

Posted by DjSimonB on Sep-05-2004 13:31:

I don't go to many events because of my age, but once I'm 18 (less than a year) and hopefully able to go to more, that'll change.

And I don't pop pills. and don't plan to do them when I go to more events. It's probably people like you that give the whole trance scene a bad image, and the music gets stereotyped as music for pill heads...

Shit, I bet they don't wear candy bracelets either or suck on pacifiers.

Get a clue.

thats just a dumbass statement we r not rap fans so we r not gonna go to there concerts.
The point that hes trying to make is how come people trying making out they know so much about djs and the music when they dont even go to clubs i agree with him seeing a dj live is a completly experience to hearing the same set on a downloaded mp3.

i used share the same view as u ull have a completly different view on the scene once uve been to club the vast majority of people dont ever plan on taking pills before they been to a club but i bet most of these people have taken them once there in there

Posted by MaGiK54 on Sep-05-2004 14:35:

There are TA's who are to young to go clubbing, especially for the younger peeps of the States, where the age-limit to attend a club is very high.

And why do you have to pop pills to enjoy parties. I never used pills and everytime I have a great time at clubnight or at parties.

agreed.

when i say i love trance music, people tend to ask me "do you take drugs?"

you need drugs when the music gets boring... that's why i don't listen to techno.

and i think a lot of people here have already been in clubs, and they DO know a lot about trance music... if you don't realise that you've not been browsing these forums a lot... there are newbies of course, but they're not the majority.

Posted by DjSimonB on Sep-05-2004 14:45:

And I'd like to add, you don't have to go to raves or events to be a 'proper' trance fan. Of course hearing the music through a big system and dancing to it is a great thing, but this is a site for trance fans, and the only thing you need to do to be a trance fan is enjoy trance music...

Posted by noikeee on Sep-05-2004 14:56:

i've just seen steve lawler and behrouz last night, so don't call me "armchair" anymore

but no, no pills.

as been said before, many TAs are under-age and can't attend events. also, many live in areas which don't have an electronic music scene, or focus on other music genres (which is my case, i wish commercial house would fuck off from this island for good).

obviously seeing a dj is a different experience than listening to a liveset at home, but that doesn't mean you can't appreciate it, have your fav sets and dj's. it's a bit of a abuse though coming here and saying a dj "sucks" or "should retire" if he isn't interfering with the events you go to.

this is the djs side. then there's the productions side. here i believe it is actually easier to stay updated by following the internet "scene". lets forget the imoralities and illegalities of downloading music for a second. if you DL shitloads of sets and singles, and browse these kinds of sites talking to other people, you perhaps can be more updated than going to a club once in a while and going to the record store once in a while. i'm not here saying that you should download gigas per month, or be the biggest trainspotter ever, just saying that it is possible to follow this side of the scene from the net. you won't get to experience how does the tracks affect a crowd though.

personally, i'm too used to listen the music only at home that i won't care too much about a track's "energy" and how it would work in a dancefloor, now i just listen to what sounds musically better to me.

and damn, this was a long write.

i didnt say u cant be a trance fan if u dont go to clubs but people think they know everything and slag a certain dj of just cose of some downloaded set they got

no one said that u have to take pills to enjoy clubs and the music that is not the reason why most people take em

ur either trying to wind me up
or u need to get a clue
how old r u? cose that comment sounds like something that would come out the mouth of a 16-17 year old

Posted by sleepydragon on Sep-05-2004 15:06:

is that ur real age in ur profile?
if it is im now not surprised by that comment u just made

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Sep-05-2004 15:08:

It was sarcasm mate, I was testing you. Anyone who pops pills because it's cool is an idiot. In fact, anyone who does anything because it makes them look cool is an idiot.

But I'm interested, if it's not to enjoy the music, why do people do it?
