Arrow [Trance] Mike Foyle - Do You Remember (Neotune's Enlightment Remix) - Full 192 kbps

***** Edit: Quick Dub added *****

Well, I've just finished (for 99%) my remix of Mike Foyle - Do You Remember! And it's for download!

I used a lot of elements from the original and just put some of my own thoughts in it. I hope y'all like the result. I'm pretty satisfied with the quality myself, listening to it through headphones. Level up I go.

Here goes:
Mike Foyle - Do You Remember (Neotunes Enlightment Remix)
Mike Foyle - Do You Remember (Neotunes Enlightment (Quick) Dub)
136 bpm | 9:03 | 192 kbps | 13 mb

Have fun and be nice, drop a line!

this is pretty nice, not better than the original, but i like the slight dark flavour you put into it, cheers

Posted by djrenco on Sep-06-2004 06:00:

i didn't hear the original. but here is my oppinion:
- kick sounds a bit weak
- bass sounds also a bit weak
- nice synths
- piano is good
- main synth is great
- i love the melodies

good work Jay!

Thanks guys.

Renco i heard it through my speakers just a few minutes ago. The kick (and maybe bass as well) could use some more punch/highs i guess. But there's enough low here in both kick and bass right..? Cheers anyways for listening

its always cool hearing my own tracks remixed this is nice much more chilled and deep than my version. i do think the kick and bass lack power. the bass seems to have much too much delay or reverb or sumin, and the kick i think is very ploppy. but hey both are easy to fix. also some mid treble would suit the mix nicely. try and clean it up so it all sounds tight and crisp, less reverb, more extreme EQs, just little details which make big differences, and i would deffo try a different kick sample. really nice feel to the remix in general, could do with some tweaking thats all i think. oh wait one more thing. i dont like that distorted saw thing at all, it sounds way to dirty fo my liking, give it some tweaking

Mike

FX at the start reminds me of a tune from a while back that I liked, although I can't remember what it is

Synth coming in at after 1.00 sounds a bit too loud, dunno if thats just me.

Kick could be tighter. I like how you've tried to make the vocals a bit more subtle, but I still don't like them too much, they're just too English

Builds up nicely, I'm enjoying the dark edge that the original lacked.

Don't like the sound of the main synth (the one that comes in after the breakdown) too much.

Liking this part at 6:40

Didn't think 2nd build-up/breakdown was needed, but that's a personal thing. I don't usually like it when tunes do that.

I guess it's a mixed review really, but I wouldn't call it a bad tune, just not really my cup of tea...

Hey thanx guys.

I just uploaded a better version. The bass is loads clearer and the kick has much more punch (but will it be enough..). Reverb is more controlled and some other tiny changes. I think it's a lot better (and mastered a bit louder), have a try!

About the lead coming at 4:20. I personally like this one, it's dirty indeed, I distorted the hell out of it. Sorry to tell you Mike, it's a stayer

The link is updated, so please have another try and tell me what you think of this remix!

Great version of this nice tune!

I really loved the sounds you used here, they sound kind of tech and that's really cool, especially those sound at the intro. I Also loved the dark atmosphere you've made, tough the melody is kind of cheerful the overall atmosphere still remains dark and mysterious and that is very cool.

What you should work on though is your final mix, sure the whole thing sounds pretty pro but I feel the mix is not full enough, there are some mid-low/low freqs missing.
Maybe try adding another layer of bass just to fill up the empty space in the mix.

Also I didnt really like the kind of buildup part between 4:20 and about 5:00. Sounds really to empty, nothing is playing but the filtered synth just sounds awkward to me.

Nice job overall, keep it up Jay!

deffo doesnt sound as muddy. its a really nice mood this remix, still hate that distorted synth

Posted by Jay M on Sep-08-2004 11:06:

Allrighty thanks a lot guys. I slightly changed the lead, but it's still distorted, I'll upload it this afternoon. Les resonance on the synth.

Cheers, anyone else?

Dub

Placed a dub for download @ 192 kbps, for those who spit on english accents lol.

The 'enlightment' doesn't really make sense now but what's in a name...

Peace

Thumbs up

Very nice, I like both versions.

Hi m8! Really nice tune there (dub version). The sounds are completely lush, they were a joy to listen to. I was a bit freaked out by the stereo image, it seemed as though everything (except the bass end) was full left or full right or oscillating between. It's like a big empty space inside my brain. Maybe on speakers that would sound better. But the main thing is the sounds, they really are top notch and are very nice to listen to

Posted by Jay M on Sep-09-2004 08:47:

Thanks!

@ pho mo: Well except for the kick and bass everything has something added to make it sound stereo overall, some are panned, some have stereo delay. Question: did you find it annoying? I'll be more careful in future then..

Posted by Jamesie on Sep-09-2004 16:25:

Yeah I agree the vocal is not appealing at all, I definately agree that the distorted lead should go, doesnt suit the track at all. The rest is impressive, good energy and choice of sounds I reckon. Nice atmosphere to it.

I definitely wouldn't use the word annoying. I'd just say that my brain was crying out for at least one melodic element to be centered, so that I could focus on something. Just the one is all I need

Posted by Jay M on Sep-10-2004 02:35:

Ok, understood. It is true that the thing you must focus on must be in the middle. I actually never applied the "rule", i just make "wide stereo music". Ok thanks!

@Jamesie: Weel dude i understand, but i think the forum is really getting into the TOO standard trance thing, and i tried but i just can't do that, i always end up experimenting, until i like something. And this time, i like the distorted lead Thanks for your support mate!

Posted by John on Sep-10-2004 14:52:

nice one jay! but there is something to the sound of the bassline i don'like, and it's only when there are some synths playing. in the intro it sounds fine, can't really put my finger on it, but i guess it has to do with eq (me and my musical knowledge uh hum)
i agree with pho mo on having some other things centered too.
the lead is really nice! all your sounds are nice actually perhaps the percs could be brought to the front some more. anyway, nice track man!

john

ps damn why were you awake at 4.35?! must have gone out or something

Uh yeh that's exactly the time I came home from the students club, here in Leiden. There was some party indeed. Was just sober enough to reply lol.

Thanks for reviewing, John!
