ASYS - No more ****ing rock and roll

Hey,
Just been wondering lately... The version I have of this track has the deep dark vocals in it, yet every set I have heard PVD drop this track in doesn't... did PVD do an edit of this track, and no ones puts on ASYS - No more fucking rock and roll (PVD edit/remix) in the tracklists... or what? Kinda got me confused right now...

Posted by sandstorm03 on Sep-07-2004 03:47:

yes... pvd edit/rework

Posted by Jordan Stevens on Sep-07-2004 05:03:

ya i was confused about that to, i love the track, but i really kinda like it better with out the vocal

Posted by idoru on Sep-07-2004 05:12:

Umm, I've seen ASYS - No More Fucking Rock and Roll (PVD Edit) in a lot of tracklists here.

doubt that we will find this on vinyl ever, even though it is such a small change.

he kept the "Fuck... Rock" Vocal at the end of the first break.... the version he plays also don't has the guitar riffs in it, i dunno whether he's just playing an early version of the track or if he really reworked it

He really reworked it. Trust me, once you know the original well enough, it's not difficult to replicate his rework . . .

Posted by on Sep-07-2004 17:38:

I actually prefer the original with the vocals, and the guitar riffs in it... I just know that none of the tracklists I have that he has dropped this in, have whether is a rework/edit/mix etc... so I was just confused... but I figured he had done something.. he usually does.

I love this song...its pretty nice..love the deeeep bass!!!! anyways i think the pvd edit/rework is just a little bit better!

i think the "No More Fucking Rock 'N' Roll" vocal is crap and does not fit at the end of the first break and I'm grateful that paul removed this one but I do miss the riffs in pauls edit... I prefer the Original

I am not trying to start sh!t but can you please explain this to me :

I love PVD myself. I am a huge fan of his and have met him a few times personally( .. ok I just got his autography heheheh ..in person though) Anyways, I am wondering why you PVD fans like this song. IMO its like the anti-thesis of any PVD "style" song.

My questions to you are:

1) What attracts you to this song? Do you like the tune or do you just like that PVD played it? Would you like it if PVD didnt play it?

2) How long have you been listening to PVD? Do you love his orgianl works? If so which ones?

3) How old r you ( be honest ) ?

If you could answer these questions it would be helpful to me to understand my fellow PVD fans.

Thanks.

P.S>
I think everyone knows my feelings on this song and this PVD style

Heard this for the first time today, and it really is just a cover of The Prodigy- Voodoo People, which is one of my all-time fave tracks. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

How many recent pvd sets have you been 2?

I could name 100's of wierd tracks that paul has spun over the years. This track is definately "PVD style." I don't get what is sooo hard to see? Paul has always had a wierd style which is why he is the best. What do you feel about paul dropping tracks like Junk Project - Braintool? Not epic enough for you? I don't see what age has to do with a thing here. When I saw paul recently the 2 tracks which completely distroyed the floor were No more fuckin rock n' roll & are you a freak (Silvio Econimo remix) which im sure u hate also.

Yeh I was just gonna say that, it uses a complete rip of one of the main riffs from The Prodigy - Voodoo People, which is an excellant track.

I still like this one tho', it's really upbeat

you dont know very much about PvD and his style then if you think that. its Tracid traxx 'acid trance' & Paul has always supported tracid traxx records.

I'll ask you the question, how long have you been listening to PvD?

Couldn't agree more. Takes way too long, sticks out like a sore thumb, and loses some energy from that build-up.

1) The energy of this track is what attracts me to it. And of course I'd still like it if PVD didn't play it. Whether or not I would actually know about it if he didn't play it is a different story. But just because he plays something doesn't make me like a track any more or any less.

2) Since December 2001, when I first got into electronica. I usually love his original works, but not the recent ones (the majority of which have been collabs anyway, not purely original). My favorites of his are probably Avenue, Words, Movement, Out There, and Columbia.

3) 21.

Unless I totally missed something . . . not really

And this track does fit his style. He's always played tracks like this...listen to some of his sets from 2000, 2001 and so on.

Even if one argues that this sort of track is not his style...just listen to any of his recent sets (recent being the last 2-3 months). The majority of them have had a considerably higher amount of harder trance in them--a bit more than in the past. If you still dont feel like its his style...well...you can no doubt see his style is changing a bit. And just because his style is evolving ever so slightly doesn't mean it's not still his style. It can change, and it does.

But it still remains that he's played tracks like this many, many times before, both this year and in many years past. He plays a good variety most of the time, regularly including harder/weirder tracks like this in his sets--even in sets that are sometimes predominantly trance. That's his edge, his signature, whatever... and one of several reasons why I love his style and his musical taste so much.

Now it's your turn to answer your three questions.

I love this song. Kinda Tech- Housey. Nice stuff.I dunno.I like some of his "harder" stuff but dislike others. I guess it might just be personal taste for harder trance that has more of a melody or catchiness to it (i.e. you are a freak).

Thanks guys for the replys. It has have really helped me understand PVD more and the use of this tune.

see some people are going to hate paul spinning tech house... he is just playing a bunch of different styles. Right now i hate when he drops stuff like lo-step - burma.

personally i dont think anything is catchier then the acid voodoo people melody...

Agreed. What do you think about Marcel Woods tracks... find they have a similar sound to this ASYS track?
