CD Recording connection question
I'm trying to record my mix with a cd recorder......I'm running final scratch 1.5.....I think its a problem in my connection......Do I need to feed the sound out of my amp/tuner into the cd recorder or can i just feed the sound out directly from my mixer??? I tried just the mixer already and it doesn't work...my amp/tuner doesn't have an rca out...
Or is this just a problem with the signal Final Scratch sends????
If anybody can help it would be great....I went to Sam Ash and Guitar center and they are clueless
Well if your outs from the mixer are pluged into your amp, and the amp is getting a signal then your mixer is sending output. Now if you plug those same outs from your mixer to your CD recorder, the recorder should be getting a signal. I have a CD recorder also, and the only way it will get a signal from rca is
1) The rca's must be pluged into the input of the recorder
2) The recorder needs to be told that it will be recording from its analog source.
Your recorder should have a input selection button, and it needs to be set to analog.
If your mixer is getting a signal from FS, then FS is working fine.
If you are using the record outs on your mixer to record, you might need to check if these are not working.
To do that just use your amp as the tester by plugging and unplugging your rca's and seeing if one sends a signal while the other doesn't. If all your outputs on the mixer are working but your recorder is still not picking anything up then you should throw your recorder out the window and use your computer instead.
What kind of prog or set up do i need to be able to use my computer? I have a labtop and i'am running 2.6 ghz with 512 mb of memory. I use my usb port for FS and have another usb and anexternal sound card. I've tried my computer with these components and still can't get it to record using wave studio recorder...Could it be something in my set up or connection? Or should i use a different prog?
As far as the cd recorder i bought a cheap klh at best buy and returned it...I did set it to analog and yet it didn't work for some reason it would not recognize the source??
Thanks for your help.....
I use Sound Forge 7 to record my mixes. I use the record out on my mixer and connect it to the input on my soundcard. I have a M-Audio Delta 1010 which has many inputs. Your soundcard may only have one, which actually might make things easier. If you don't want to spend a ton of money on Sound Forge, you can find some cheaper stuff if you do a yahoo search. You might even be able to find some free stuff...you'd be suprised how many free programs are out there.
Good Luck
