Highly recommend viewing this.
A must see for those who beleive in Jesus.
My favorite comment on the movie came from a movie critic on local network television and went something like this:
"To sum up my feelings, the movie was great, but I didnt like the ending"

I agree with Jesus' messages, but not with the church that has adopted him as it's "poster child".
This is as far into this conversation as I'm willing to go.
Wouldn't watch it again even if Jesus told me in person.

A little secert I let you know....
I missed about half the movie looking away from the screen cuz I didnt want to cry my eyes out. 
Definately a beautiful movie....I did shed a few during the movie...Gotta love JC....

I was crying not becuase of the blood but becuase of the sheer emotions I felt. Let me clarify a bit 
First the injustice showed in the movie, made me think about all the injustice done to everyone. It provked alot of thoughts to say the least. It also showed how people can be so cruel, even with someone so gentle. Made me even asked what are the ethics of war , if even Jesus does not support it.It made me feel bad about the malice and hate I had for others too. And how people do supid shit without thinking. Like when those people are killing Jesus. What drives someone to kill another person. For example, the scene when the mary is kissing dying jesus and than the memory she has of him when he was 2 and he fell and hurt himself and she hurrys to help him. It just made me think that about all these people dying in the war and all over how their mothers must feel the pain to see their "little boy" die.
It was extremely moving to see Jesus even though all the bruality and hate still showed love and more importantly peace to his enemies. HE never said lets go fight. This ideal really touched me.
The movie , imo, was much more than a story of a death. No it was much deeper.

it's a really good movie. i like jesus...someday, i wish to have hair like him, also,i want to be able to shoot lasers out of my eyes, like jesus.
i turned this movie off halfway through. seeing someone's flesh torn off just doesn't do it for me. it doesn't move me spiritually. it doesn't make me repent. it simply nauseates me.
I saw it when it first came out, then they screened it in my church. It was pretty hard to sit through without tearing. really puts things in perspective......
I'm not a religious person either, but the movie got to me a bit too. It was so graphic, but to be honest, if those events did happen, that's probably what they were like. I just find it hard to believe that people, even back then when the times were more brutal, could stand by and watch violence like that and not do anything about it. Sickening.
Youve got to believe that they knew that if they tried to stand up, it would happen to them next.
You cant preach any kind of message if youre dead and (now especially), the living forget about the dead relatively quickly.
Nowadays, we just throw them into a concrete box and call it rehabilitation....
One critque I have about the movie is the under-development of the character Jesus. I say this becuase alot of my non-christian friends saw the movie and saw nothing more into it than violent movie. Without a simple introduction of the character and role he played at the time those of non-christian back-grounds ,imo , failed to understand the subtle importance of characters,places, and story line.I also noticed how my non-christian seemed a bit lost in the story-line.
As a catholic I thought more emphasis should be placed on the teachings of Jesus and why this lead to his death. This in turn would truely show people an accurate description of the christian faith. I just hate to hear others not place any importance on his teachings but rather focus attention on his death. I think his teachings are what inspired me to faith again after a long period of darkness and uncertainty in my life. I was always not very warm to the way the church taught me what Jesus was about. As an intellectual I found greater understanding when I actaully picked up the bible and read it myself instead hoping fro some elses interpratation.
One critique of my church is that many people claim to be "christian" yet have no real understanding of the teachings and idealogy of Jesus. They just feel that beleiving in him and going to Church is enough. But to me this is just an insult to the purpose of religion .

well I finally saw this the other day, I mean what else can I say but that the movie got to me and it really made me think about stuff in my life.
The beating of jesus was shown alot more than I expected,very sad,I forwarded some parts haha.
When this movie came out and was the biggest thing since Buddha (thats some religious humor...erhm) I had watched Braveheart again after learning some of the history and theory behind Nationalism and 19th century ideas on Romanticism - as well as how those ideals shaped how Mel saw the Scots at that time. Braveheart, even with only seeing the trailer for Passion, drew too many parallels in how we see present day society and history.
That being said, I dont doubt its not moving to most (either to the Christian faith, or to those moving out of the theatre) - its just that what we consider emotional, relevant and how we see our societies has changed so much makes the retelling difficult to not overanalyze.
Mel doesnt truly know how it was back during the Crux, but he DOES know how to tug on your heartstrings.
And beyond that, passion plays WERE used in the Romantic period to make people repent and we simply second hand sermons created long after the crucifiction|
take that all the 2 grains everyone. I didnt see it, but Im not willfully being dishonest with the history and Gibsons filmmaking

Get The Life of Brian instead it a much more upbeat ending!
