Unhappy UK Trance Record Labels

Been thinking about sending some of my own stuff out to the labels etc so I took a look on the back of some records I own. Seems like there are very few UK trance labels out there, most of the records I came accross were in Holland & Germany and alot of other places.

Just wondering if any of you know some labels based in UK I could take a look at. I think so far I've only found about 5 or 6 underground ones, because it seems most british dance music is released on Incentive, Data and Nebula etc which are all a bit commercial.

Thanks for your help!

you live in the UK and you say that?!?! what on earth are you on? lol

here's a list of some leading labels to get you started:

http://www.labelsuk.tk/

you should really stop importing your records when you could get them cheaper in the UK on a different label (assuming the mixes and release dates are the same)

No dude, I buy my records in UK record shops - they are the guys that import them. Cos the imports are always way ahead of the commercial releases.

Thanks for the URL, unfortunately they dont say if a particular label is Trance or not

These are all UK labels, alot of the UK labels seem to be hard trance orientated but they still put out trance tunes.

Nukleuz
Black Hole UK
Serious
Honeypot
Above The Sky
Manifesto
Red Monkey Records
Tidy
Five AM
Nebula
TRR
Xtravaganza
Positiva
Made In England Records
Incentive
Data
Inferno
Border Comunity

Some strong labels in UK for trance imo, but most of the stuff I buy is from holland. (Dutch Trance Rules)

Try sending some demos to other labels in other countries they speak english and if your tunes good enough they will sign it dont worry about that.

Thanks mate, thats really helpful! Although I have wondered if labels like Inferno and Manifesto have shut down because I haven't seen any releases from these guy for years.

I think the last Manifesto record I can remember was Yomanda - On The Level.

Anjunabeats, prolly one of the biggest melodic/uplifing/prog trance label I know

Christopher Lawrence has a new label and I thought he was looking for new talent as well.

manifesto went ages ago, inferno is still here. if you check the link i gave you, it states wether the label is defunct or not. i presumed that you would know from your own record collection what label put out what releases on that list. just click the label and it will show you there discog so you can figure out some for yourself.

Somewhat off topic. Where is Bonzai out of? The Netherlands?

Belgium.

Thanks. Is it headed by (a) dj(s)?

There is also a UK Bonzai, but they are run by some company called Music Village / Big Fish, who also run Five AM.

Try TRR. This is a good new label and is run by Andy Bagguley and Genix.

Thanks. I as I browse through all these labels, its sad to see how many have now closed down. Neo, in particular I was shocked at - I've got so many quality tunes from them.

Majority went bust due to Alpha Magic going bust.

However don't send your tune to every uk label. Try to focus on the sounds & style that each label release, and send your stuff to the one which fits best. You'll have more chance.

Thats exactly what I'm doing, I'll probably only have an elite list of 10 or so.

But.... I do have enough stamps so theres no harm sending out a few extras.

Interesting thread, Neo went bust because they lost all the decent trance stuff they used to have and ended up releasing shitty house on that blue imprint.

Posted by Pete_B on Sep-11-2004 21:51:

Damn right, actually ALOT of labels lost decent trance stuff. Hard to believe when there's so much great unsigned music out there!

Take some advice here, a friend of mine sent his track off to the labels it suited best, and sent it off to a well known label in the UK, ran by a talented producer.

Heard nothing about it, but a month later a production by this big name came out and had taken parts of my mates tune into his success. Whilst most respected producers might not do this you just have to be careful of who you send it to
