Best Mixing Program

Cast your votes ppl.

and give a reason why you picked that program!

simple Traktor

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-01-2001 18:32:

VTT because it is most like real turntables.

also you can use it with an external mixer.

Posted by quddha on Oct-01-2001 20:32:

vtt because of the jog wheel. just like real cd decks...
if you have vtt setup right, with two soundcards and an external mixer, its exactly like cd decks, with a few more features.

i wouldn't say its like turntables tho.. hehe no comp program is like turntables.

traktor has a bunch of cool features like a software mixer and filter.. but, it needs to screw the autobpm feature and get a jogwheel.

i like the layout of traktor plus those filter knobs are awsome

true.. but it's closer than anything else.

I only tried a demo of this traktor program.. I tried another one called MJ studio that sucked big time.

I have fantasies about making my own mixing program. something with 3D displays of the sound levels frequency by amplitude by time and you could spin the graph any way you like.

Thumbs up Mixvibes Pro 3.0x

I think mixvibes pro wins hands down. Supports up to 16 virtual mixers, can record your mix and save it in mp3 or wave and create a cue sheet, can edit your mix, supports up to 4 sound cards, supports midi, can scratch, loop, sample... Everything is on the fly, ei. the program is very responsive... no lag time as long as you have a decent pc with some RAM. Has Balance control, complete eq. supports skins, very similar functions to real cd decks. It has wave visualization, all the other extra crap like auto bpm, auto fade in/fade out... I personally have never used many of the extra features like the auto bpm... it only degrades your mixing skills.
I have said it before and will say it again... after using VTT, traktor, BPM studio pro, virtual 1200s, PCDJ.... Mixvibes PRO 3.x is still number 1.

One note: Out of all programs though,, for a newbie, who does not want to learn how to mix, I recommend traktor. Ony simply, because it pretty much does everything for you... I don't recommend it for someone who actually wants to get prepared for real turntable or cd decks. I don't think that it does a good job at emulating them.

Hmmm, all I've ried is Virtual Turntables which sucked and MJ studio which was better so I just voted for it!

Posted by DJTJ on Oct-04-2001 09:32:

Virtual Turntables is all I've ever used, and it was great! I never used to cheat on it by clicking on the button to set the pitch the same, I always did it the "real" way, by ear, and that made it nice and easy for me when I made the switch from mp3 to vinyl.

Posted by Sm0keMachine on Oct-04-2001 09:37:

VTT rules! a friend of mine installed 2 soundcards in his computer so he could use headphones with it.. and his mixes sound VERY professional..
it's also very easy and simple to use.. the only bad point about it is that the equalizer works really slow..

Go to astalavista.com.... You should find that 3.01 is crackable... Download the demo, then find the loader to install it's main directory... I will repeat: Go to astalavista and do a search for mixvibes pro 3.01..... you may find something.

How do i scratch with mixvibes pro!?!, and how do i beatmatch there?!?!

Posted by dj alonzo on Oct-06-2001 19:33:

Traktor, simply b/c of the filter knobs..

Posted by Trypsin on Oct-07-2001 04:01:

Traktor because of the EQ, and also because it can send the monitor signal to the second port on my SB Live... which (as far as I know) none of the others will do.

Posted by Tony Morello on Oct-07-2001 04:53:

traktor for its extra features
but for use with an external mixer, i'd go with VTT

Sorry for taking so long to post, but I've been working all week.
Anyway here is the info... this is from the help files... Again, I don't use many of the advanced features as I want to get accustomed to mixing by ear and whatever.
Scratch
"In the sound wave window, select the tool Scratch (right click in the window) or tape "S"

1) mouse click down in the window, then you enter in scratch

2) move the mouse (with click down) for scratching

3) mouse click up, stop the scratch

If you click up inside in the window, you stay in frame (frame looping).

If you click up outside the window, the song continue to play"

"Beat matching
1) Click in the mixer channel where is the media to be matched

2) Press Shift key and drag to the second mixer channels where is the media to match (you will see cursor =)

3) Drop with shift key pressed in the mixer to match

if you don't press shift key the media move to the mixer channel dropped.

Beatmatching can be done only if you have informed the bpm for the medias to match."

Hope that helps. Play around with it, you should find out some tricks... Mostly it just takes time to get used to the program. If anything, the help files contain all instructions.

i'd have to add one suggestion is mixedvibes program i think it's alot better tran vtt bar far but thats just an opion

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-10-2001 21:48:

OK whats with mixvibes?

the program in the poll is mix meister. is this the same thing?

i was under the impression that mixmeister was an editor program, not for live mixing like VTT.

but after than glowing testimonial, I want this mixvibes 3.01 program, where can I download them demo?

Smiley DJ What do you think about this?

What do you tranzy DJ's think about this product? Could it be a good start for a beginning DJ who has a lot of CD's but hasn't got the money to buy loads of vinyl? I think it's one of the best inventions in DJ land of the last century. Tell me what you think about it!!!

Posted by ikke on Oct-12-2001 18:49:

Unhappy Forgot this. Sorry Sorry Sorry

The web site of the product I was talking of is http://www.finalscratch.com/, but s of line sometimes. The product is called Final Scratch. Check it out!

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-12-2001 20:55:

well.. I am getting no response when I try the website

Read This! MP3 mixers review

I've used all of the mixers around I think, and one I've found thats wicked for newbies is AtomixMP3 (http://www.atomixmp3.com). Its not complecated at all, beatmatching is incredible simple and it automatically cues and matches the tracks.
The downsides are that there are no filters, however, with tinkering you can get around that.

I think Tractor is great but a bit too automated, yet the filters are wicked. MixMeister is great if you want to make a mix for CD for instance, but live mixing is not available. Also, you can play your mixes over the net with Live Broadcasting. MixVibes is about as close as you get using MP3s as your vinyl but you really need two soundcards I think. I've never really got on with VTT sorry

Posted by RavingLunatic on Oct-15-2001 20:41:

Wow that final scratch looks AWESOME.

i'm downloading atomix, seems like a toy to me..

for me VTT works great, I don't like all this, push one button to match the pitches stuff..

there is no skill or finese in that.
