[Progressive/Trance] Robert Miles - Children (Cyxian Demo Mix)

Don't know if I must call this Progressive or Trance. Let's say ProgTrance :P

Yesterday I started a new remix. I hadn't planned to remix this track, it just happend after some nice ideas. I have to say I'm pretty satisfied with it this time, so I hope you like it too. This is a demo mix. That means that it is the final mix, but a bit shortened and a voice in it so nobody 'can' steal it. (Like happened before with one track)

Robert Miles - Children (Cyxian Demo Mix)

As always suggestions or any feedback are really aprecciated.

Stuff used:

Fruity Loops, Iblit, Polyiblit Vanguard and some other VSTi's. Also tons of FX's

Not to chill not to hard. I like it. IMHO it isn't very danceable so I probably wouldn't play it at a club, just for sitting down and listening to it is very soothing. I love the variation in the track. A very well produced track!

I love it!

I really liked the original, but this is just awesome! You've really got a nice style. The computer voice kind of throws off your flow, but that's ok. The work you put into this really shines through!

I like the opening synth work you have here and the transitions are well done. I don't really hear much of the original in this though....Most remixes have a little something form the original. Oh wait! There's the signature piano! Great job in caressing it into the grooves you're laying down! Now this is just tight! Great job on this remix! I will be looking forward to hearing more of your music!!!!

Hehe, also thanks! But besides the piano I still left the strings and bass 'melody'. The lead melody (the sine synth) is based on a string which is in the original track and also in this track it's still there. But this is my most succesfull track, everything I made before was.. Not very good, but it's nice to hear that I made some progress.

Btw, that computer voice is just that nobody can steal it..

interesting choice of a track to remix...
and I have to say, I despised the original - so taking that into account...

interesting intro - the reverb really screws it for me it should be very clean and harsh (loud) imho

use the reverb on the strings in the background

like the gated sound that comes in

the slight alterations to the main line give it a more minor feel - reminisent of moby-go

maybe would have been nice to use something other than the standard miles piano.

some good work with the percs

needs a lot of EQ and production work to get it to sound crisp and driving (which I think is what you want)

Thanks for the reply!

What do you mean about the intro, too much reverb?

On the strings there's very much reverb, I don't like it myself do add more, that makes it too.. I dunno, nog right.

I like the typical Miles piano, that's why I kept it in place, It's just the thing that makes this song as it is. But do you have suggestions for another sound?

But I don't want it very crispy, I don't like that, but maybe it could sound a little better yeah, I'll try something more.

Haha don't be afraid this remix will be stolen, only djs might want to give it a play. But before that i'd give the kick more low-end. Bassline is a nice one.

Piano is bit hollow sounding, try to create another or use ander sample. You need to cut some low freqs from it as well.

Nice new jacket for this one. Your sound has really improved, good to see that!

Keep it up!

But I am very afraid after the following thing happened. Some time ago I made a dub mix of A&B's NOOE (you might heard it :P). A few weeks ago I was searching for the name Cyxian in google (also found one of my remixes in someone's tracklist \o/) But then I found my NOOE dub mix at an Russian vinyl store-site. Dunno how they done it, but the where selling my dub on vinyl. :S So I send an e-mail to the admin of the site to delete it and now it's deleted. So I say, be carefull with wat you put on the internet.

Kick more low-end, you mean I should make it a bit deeper?

Hmm, I see. That piano just a cheap (in the sense of not very difficult) vst I found on the net :P I don't like it too use much samples.

awasome remix

The overall track is good, you really made a properly done remix and used some interesting sounds But after 3 minutes it becomes rather boring IMHO.. I'm confinced that with YOUR skills you could 'repair' this! But I'll give you 7/10 because the build-up and the sound are real good dude Keep on the good work!

HOW DARE YOU

i've been afraid to remix this song because i'm afraid that i would never do it justice... the original is such a powerful track

however, your remix does a pretty good job, i feel like the introduction should have been a little more energetic, and build a lot of anticipation before you go into the breakdown...

i dunno if you've heard the robert miles' trance remix of that song, which isn't all that bad, the breakdown is ingenious in his mix

as stated before, i do feel the piano is very hollow. The track's "feel" is good, though, very relaxed. And as stated before, i don't think it's a club track, but something to just chill to

y'know for a good half minute, this sounded so similar (according to meldies) to Matt Hardwick vs Smith & Pledger - Connected

keep it up

IMO this mix doesn't do any justice to the original..

My 0.02$

It sounds like oldschool trance in a good way! The bassline is good!
U've catch the chilly feeling that the original has.
