Setting Up Traktor With External Mixer
Can anyone tell me how to do this? I've tried before and have never gotten it to work. I have an onboard ac 97 sound card. I've have one of those headphone jack splitters, but I don't know if that will do anything. I have a djx 700 and i've tried hooking the right chan up to one channel, then left to another, but there always seems to be leaking through traktor.
hmm, not sure how all this works, never done this before but I think it depends on your soundcard.
1. you have 2 soundcards, you setup Traktor to play one channel through one card and the other channel through your other soundcard, then you plug a 3.5mm to RCA adapter into each one, and then into each channel on the mixer.
or
2. you have a soundcard that has a front and rear speaker output (surround card), so you do the same as above, but direct one channel to the front soundcard output and the other channel to the rear soundcard output.
if you do not have a surround card or 2 soundcards, I don't think you can set it up properly, it sounds like your playing both channels through the same output because you don't have either of these options, so I surgest you go but a second card, won't cost you much.
I'm not sure if Tracktor works with 2 sound cards (probably not).
You need a sound card with multiple channels OUT. Like a 5.1 channel soundcard, or a specialized USB sound device (such as a Gigaport AG USB sound device, it has 8 channels out).
Within Tracktor you set one channel per deck.
Unfortunately in most cases a plain soundcard that came with your computer isn't going to cut it if you want to use an external mixer with Tracktor.
Another thing, when shopping for a soundcard to use w/ traktor, be sure it includes ASIO support. That will help lower lag issues w/ traktor and make it more usable.
you don't need two sound cards. what you need is one soundcard with two or more outputs. M-Audio 1010 LT is a perfect example. It has 10 outs and 10 ins, although you won't be using them all for Traktor, but they are nice to have.
