World Trade Center Successor dubbed "The Freedom Tower"
The Freedom Tower will have a major impact on the New York skyline while minimizing its impact on the environment. Designers say the world's tallest building will include a wind farm, solar panels and advanced, energy-efficient technology, and will become an icon of environmentally friendly architecture.
The 1,776-foot-high skyscraper, which was designed by architectural firms Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Studio Daniel Libeskind, will be constructed on the site of the World Trade Center, and is scheduled to be completed in 2009.

the designs proposed therein were quite unique and mind-boggling at times. worth checking out.

not really, i just bet that's what'll happen.
i wonder if they will design this one with anti-terror technology.... like everyone above the 100th floor has to wear a parachute to work, and everyone below has to learn how to slide down a firemans pole.

I can assure you that the US government has a few surprises in store for the Freedom Tower as far as defense is concerned.
Just watch. When that building opens, there are going to be more than a few "special features" unveiled.
Nell is right, it will become the juiciest target in the entire world for terrorism. Yeah, it's a cool idea, but they better have some really cool tricks up their sleeves to protect it.
i can assure you all, it has anti-terroism shields armed with laser beams. instant death upon touch/exposure.

They should just build an ordinary building (or a park) and let it go. Having that huge building as a tribute to the victims will do nothing but keep the sorrow and will of vengeance alive. Is it really necessary for the people of NY to remember that day everytime they look out the window (or whatever way you can see that huge thing)? Remember friends and relatives who died? Don't they have to deal with it during their daily lives?
That's pathetic and disturbing. It's a shame that, a fact that should be dealt with respect became some kind of manipulated icon.

It's not unrealistic to say terrorists are plotting again. I mean.. what's the best way to demoralize a country? Hit em once. And then hit em again at the same spot to prove they havent progressed.

possibly not, but if osama (or whoever was responsible), wanted to make the Americans look like eejits then all he'd have to to is destroy this new structure.
i'm sure a few airplanes would do the trick, but i reckon osama woulds be capable of comin up with something better..
the whole airplane into building thing's a little cliche at this stage..

Is the Freedom Tower 1,776 ft. purposly in relation to the year 1776?
