Proggy? Progressive rock, progressive jazz, progressive house? What exactly do you mean by progressive?

You're getting mainly Progressive. dj's so far. Gabriel and Dresden are definitely prog trance. I would say Christopher Lawrence plays a lot of progressive trance, Tiesto has played more progressive trance in the last couple years (In Search of Sunrise 3 is predominantly prog trance), Starecase (sometimes breaks too), Max Graham, Dave Ralph, and sometimes Oakenfold.

Steve Porter
Nic Faniculli
Luke Fair
Teddy Shin
James Zabiela

There aren't many djs of "pure progressive trance" around, most mentioned play a lot of progressive house and progressive breaks too. For mostly progressive trance try Ben Lost, Dj Fire, Perry O'Neil, Gabriel & Dresden, Markus Schulz (some of these aren't very good in my opinion). For the trance'n'house'n'breaks mix try Sasha, James Holden, Nick Warren, Anthony Pappa. For wild breaks with progressive house with god-knows-what try James Zabiela, you'll love it.

They are the essence of progressive trance, as far as I'm concerned. I separate progressive, from progressive trance. Some of the guys mix the two up, but I wouldn't call Hernan a progressive trance dj, or even Digweed. Digweed might drop 1 or 2 progressive trance tracks in a set. It seems like people think of melody and trance as synonomous. Does anyone agree with me that certain melodies are pure progressive and others are trance or progressive trance? For example, Sasha's "Wavy Gravy". Highly melodic, but not trancy at all. What do you guys think?

Edit - BTW, I know Wavy Gravy is breaks, just in case someone was gonna jump on that. It's still prog breaks.
