The tracklist looks good. I'll get back 2 u soon.

Posted by D.J.V on Sep-16-2004 05:23:

thanks mate, umm a question for ya does the tracklisting look to armin wannabe-ish?

Posted by Spacey Orange on Sep-16-2004 05:41:

to be honest, i've listened to avb only a couple of times. i've listened to 76 and a couple of other albums and was pretty impressed but i wasn't blown away. (is that heresy?) but if you're asking if the tracklist looks bangin', then i'd say YES.

insofar whether its avb wannabeish: i don't know. what matters is that you like and other people like it.

Posted by D.J.V on Sep-16-2004 05:46:

hehehe cool, i was just asking cause i've posted this mix on another site and some ppl said that my tracklist was just another fluffy asot armin wannabe trash

but i didnt choose to play these tracks because armin plays em i play because they quality tunes. anyway i'll stop whinging now

You Have a New Fan

Overall, a sweet mix with excellent tracks (i told you so!). Just a couple of very minor mixing issues though.

I think that the transitions between Recluse and BS sounds a little awkard. The transition between BS and GE&JO could be a little better too. At 25:54 when GE comes on strong with the heavier drum beat i can still hear Brittney crooning in the background for a little bit. There are a couple more like it. Am i too nit-picky? Dunno. These are VERY MINOR though.

BTW in some tracks the sound bounces from left to right channels (example at 11:00-11:49). Its interesting, but makes me kind of dizzy. I don't know if its out of your hands or not.

OVERALL, ITS A VERY GOOD MIX.

I'm very impressed with the tracks and how they work really well. You maintain a good bpms throughout the set and don't throw in some out-of-place track like i've heared in a couple mixes around here (i won't name names ).

Apart from the bpms, their is something REALLY SPECIAL about the good mood all across the mix. It just sounds really good. In my opinion, top 10%. I look forward to more mixes. You must have more stashed away, so put them out here. Cheers.

First of all big thank you for taking time out to listen to my mix and give me such a indepth review, really appreciate mate cheers

I knew that the mixing wasnt perfect and that as you said little minor issues and to the untrained ear would go un-noticed < is that a word oh well <

As you pointed out i set grew after every track and thats what i wanted to achieve cruisey and a bit soft at the start then finish off on a bit of a banging note

With all my mixes i try to take the listener....err i'm not gonna say journey but i want them to be able to slap it on and as you said feel the general good vibe that i'm trying to send accross

Anyway thanks again, i'm just about to do a september promo which will be a bit more uplifting and melodic so i hope you'll enjoy it.

Nice post. You are right about the things that you said. I love positive constructive feedback. I totally agree about 25:54 into the mix. I went back and listened after reading your post and you are right. Still...it is very minor. It wasn't a bad transition by any means.

D.J.V - I don't mind the tracklist at all. I have been doing various things online and this was perfect to listen to. It has a nice flow to it.

EDIT: I love the mix.

Solid

I'm going to agree with Spacey on this one.. The track listing is Solid, and there's nice ambience that it carries with it.

I found that 'The Promise' geared it up, and Aalto's 'Taurine' kicked it down. There was a nice flow and progression to the tracks..

As for the technical end, I can't really fault you for anything, though there were some very VERY small points like what Spacey Pointed out. No need to really dwell on it.

In my Compliation Mixes, I try to key correct as much as possible, as to keep a natural, almost Bedrock-esque flow for mixing. Then again, this is PERSONAL preference, so taking it too seriously would be unwise.

I'll score this one a Solid 8 for 10. Small flaws, but not really that noticeable.

Thumbs Up.

If anyone's feeling generous, help a brother out and review my latest mix..Progressiva Vol. 3.. I'm willing to take even the harshest criticism at this point.

..By all means, keep in mind, it's not a huge deal. I mean, listen to a Tiesto set. Someone more versed can stop me here, but I don't find his sets to be all that musically in line; Which is kind of odd when you think about it.. Seems all his productions are percussive and based entirely around the lead.

Oh well.

Still, you're well on your way, and that's a stomper for a first mix.

Cheers, and feel free to nab me on MSN.
