I'm looking forward to it as well...I had downloaded the TV series in the meantime but had been kind of disatisfied with it.

Looks kickass from the trailer. Check out the Appleseed trailer - that's another one worth looking forward to.

ive read a few reviews which are comparing this film to the matrix Reloaded because it is full of phsyco bable - & apparently it has got more phsyco bable than Reloaded: that's a sh!t load of phsyco bable.

I found the first movie pretty damn interesting & own it in my collection, so I think ill enjoy innocence.

Posted by twisted on Sep-16-2004 21:58:

heh heh heh

DEFINITELY check out Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion - they are, imo, the greatest animes out there right now. They are worshipped by many, many people - but with the anime community being as small as it is, you can trust in the mainstream hype a little bit more

As far as othe ranime movies go, check out Vampire Hunter: D and the sequal: Bloodlust. GREAT animation and interesting neo-gothic stories. As for the greatest anime movie of all time? That honor goes to the almighty Akira. In my honest opinion, there is no comparison - Akira is the quintessential anime film.

The first Ghost in the Shell was revolution in modern animation. I can only expect the sequal to be somewhat less of a breakthrough film, but a great movie nonetheless

I assume that it's rated R- do you guys think that they'll be checking IDs at the door for an animated film?

Vampire Hunter: D tis good
Blood 2 tis good too

Everyone who is into manga must own Ghost in the Shell & Akira - I thought that was common knowledge. It is a catastrophy if you dont own them!!

Just saw a trailer for it on TV... it's rated PG-13...

Somehow I'm sorta disappointed the way I was disappointed when AVP was rated PG-13. There's just something missing.

MY top 3 anime:

1) Rurouni Kenshin
2) Cowboy Bebop <-------Short series worth glimpse,if you havent already
3) Trigun

Oh god, do I despise Eva. IMO, that is one of the worst animes I've seen. I just don't understand why everyone loves it so much.
[rant off]

My fav. animes:
.Hack//Sign (kinda boring, bc it focuses on character interactions as opposed to action, but still my favorite)
Serial Experiments Lain
Boogiepop Phantom
Trigun
Outlaw Star

For shorter stuff (Movie length):
Spirited Away
Read Or Die
Akira
GITS

I want to see cowboy bebop. I had it, but two days after I got it, someone broke into my house (up at school and stole it)

Q: how is cowboy bebop a mini series.... it's a full 26 episodes, ya? Unless you consider all animes of only one season (or less) to be "mini" in which case I withdraw the question.

Hmm, 1 was a bit odd, ended way too abruptly and the voice acting could've been a lot better, but still a well done movie. Will defo check this out.

Everything made by Hayao Miyazaki is gold

Laputa Castle In The Sky
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Nausicaa of The Valley of The Wind
Whisper of The Hearts

etc etc, wonderful stuff!

Also, check out Grave of The Fireflies too!

Ghost In The Shell 2 looks very promising...

^^^ on the money.. my gf got me into his stuff and i have to say this guy has some amazing work.. he tends to use children in his films and seem to know exactly how a child's mind works... also doesnt get sucked into that 'kiddy' zone and represents a world where both youths and adults can equally enjoy... and always has a great moral/message in the movie.. ive also heard that he personally hand draws ALL of his work, no computers.. too bad Spirited Away was his final project.

Posted by AwakenedAddict on Sep-17-2004 14:43:

Just downloaded GITS2 I'll post a review tonight after i watch it

As for other anime, I recommend: Hack Sign, Cowboy Bebop! They are both awesome
