Boards of Canada
Hi Folks,
I have recently gotten into Boards of Canada BIG TIME. I absolutely love their vibes, their simplicity (and complexity if you will), the beats and the feelings they project... Anyway after purchasing everything out there that they have I want to get into this music genre a bit more but I don't know what or who to get.
Does anyone have any recommendations for CDs that are of the Boards of Canada style? This is new territory to me so if there are other musicians you could recommend I'd appreciate it.

check out discogs, and get lost in the mad linkage between artists/remixes etc. probably the best way to discover good shit.
i suppose Herrmann & Kleine and pseudo BOC-ish, im partial to ellis island sound and Bogdan Raczynski however.
peace, caleb

im partial to the entire warp label, but lots of the music isn't the same style as boc, but still very cool.
two lone swordsmen is great as well.
BOC are rare geniuses with a style all their own. They are often imitated but never equalled. One artist that I like that is similar is Christ. He actually used to be part of BOC. Another project that are compared to BOC is Freescha, I'm not that impressed though. You might want to check out Murcof, Arovane and Biosphere for a similar vibe.
ahh excellent... someone else who loves boc
well... if you want similar styles check out Mum, Autechre or Gescom. I absolutely love Mum, some of the greatest sounds out there. Mum - Smell Memory you will fall in love with if you like boc. Not quite as mysterious as boards, great sounds though. enjoy.
Mum - yesterday is dramatic, today is okay is their best IMO. Don't get the new one with the horrible vocals.

If you like BOC, you'll simply love Nick Warren's Reykjavic GU Disk 1. -- Speaking of Warren, Way Out West's new album is sure to appeal to your musical palette.
While we're on artists similar to BOC, let me give you a few album suggestions.
Way Out West - Don't Look Now (2004)
Akufen - My Way (2002)
Bent - Programmed To Love (2001)
Biosphere - Microgravity (1995)
Coldcut - Let Us Play (1997)
Future Sound Of London - Accelerator (1996)
Lamb - Between Darkness and Wonder (2004)
Land Of The Loops - Bundle Of Joy (1997)
Leftfield - Leftism (1995)
Spacetime Continuum - Remit Recaps (1995)
That's just a start - Let me know what you think.
Shocker, Boards of Canada mentioned here?
They're amazing indeed...Mum is lightweight compared to the haunting moods they evoke. Getting lost in Gedaddi is an experience you won't soon forget.
