Here's my response to the same question on the Tisto forums...

DJs don't really have total control over where they play, it's up to their management most of the time. He's playing there because it's just another club, regardless of it being gay or not. It shouldn't even matter why Tijs is playing at a gay club. Go there for the music and have a good time. If you get hit on, big deal. You're there for the music, and the club regulars will respect that.

Why should you care if it is a gay club or not, you want to see Tie$to. Without gay clubs, disco would have never led to house and then techno. So without gay people, I'm sure the music landscape would be really different.

"While Pure Pink (formerly the 2-4 Club) has a rep as one of the best gay and late-night clubs in the city it also has the history to back itself up. During Prohibition, Pure Pink was a speakeasy, which explains the secret passages and tucked-away labs for bootlegging. More recently, it was the notorious nerve center of the Philadelphia gay scene in the disco '70s. Recently reinvented and reopened with a makeover to die for, the 1,000-capacity venue finally feels like a real destination again, with a dazzling light and sound system and an elaborate array of velvet couches, chandeliers, animal prints, giant fish tanks and swank new bars. Two sizable dance floors provide a choice of nightly soundtracks, and the third-floor catwalk lounge allows for some rest and people-watching from above. Pure Pink consistently draws the best house and techno DJs from around the city, country, and the world, and has lately hosted hipster blowouts like Making Time. The regular clientele is friendly, open-minded, free spirited and predominantly gay. Bathrooms are unisex and the dress code is minimal, so expect close, sweaty quarters. Usually, you have to be a member or a guest of a member to party at Pure Pink, so call the club for more information."

Club sounds pretty nice compared to most of the shit holes in Philly...you'll probably have a good time, so long as stuff like guys grinding or something doesn't upset you too much.
