Love Poundin' Sensation Anyone Going To See G&d @ Vision This Sunday 25th?!

I was just wondering if alot of people would be going,I really wanna here some cuts from their new CD, anyone think it will be worth going to?

Posted by wolverine16 on Sep-21-2004 00:27:

Absolutely. They are supposed to be really good live and Bloom is really, really good. I can't believe how much I love thst Sarah McLachlan song. Anyone know if there's an RSVP deal? I'm guessing there's not one since they get good crowds.

I'll be there! I haven't been to Vision for a couple weeks so I'm looking forward to it. I've been impressed with some of their live sets recently on Global Dj Broadcast, but the last time they were here in Chicago for James Holden...I wasn't too impressed. So, I'm going to give them another try, and this time they're headlining.

Oh, and the thread says "Sunday 25th?" when actually the 25th is a Saturday. Just a little FYI.

LOL. True. I never thought of it that way.

Their last show back on Feb 28th sucked. Holden was far better that night. I ended up leaving earlier than usual & hitting Crobar.

What's the title of their new CD? Will it be released here in the States?

Be Cool!

It's a 2CD album called "Bloom" and it's in stores here. It has some really good tracks and is worth rushing out to get. There's a huge post going on the CD review board that should give some more insight.

Thanks for the information. I think I've heard a few of the tracks from their CD already.

did anyone end up going? i'm curious if this set was better than their last one @ Vision (back in Feb).

Without a doubt, Gabriel & Dresden's set was a lot better than their set for James Holden in Feb. Their set seemed to be more prepared this time than before...starting out with the airy, melodic tracks with the deep baselines and, eventually, intigrating harder trance tracks with the rolling synths and staccato baselines. Quite a few songs were from their latest CD; like, Dido - Don't Leave Home and Arcadia. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fact that niether of them used the DVJs or Technics; they primarily used the mixer, and a laptop Mp3/Ogg-file program I've haven't seen before. Needless to say, watching them work was a little boring.

It's a Laptop using Ableton live. Josh has used it forever.

Anyhow, if you didn't know, They are playing as a true duo right now. Not like Dave plays an hour, Josh plays an hour type of stuff. They are behind the decks together mixing together. More of a live act, if you may say.

And yes, G&D today compared to even six months ago is a WORLD of difference. They've matured as a duo bigtime.

Dave

Is it easy to find this Ableton program?

Posted by wolverine16 on Sep-29-2004 02:54:

Be Cool!

Yeah, it's a fairly easy to find program. If you want to try out a demo version of it before investing money in the full program, BT's technology EP comes with a demo version to remix a few of his songs.

Thank God. A litterally fell asleep during their Feb. set.
