i'm totally gonna buy this, my brother fucked up my old one and this one looks MUCH more sleeker than the first one. too lazy to read the estimated price so can anyone tell me? i'd imagine that it would be atleast 300 since it comes with pre-installed modem and (once again too lazy to read) i assume it also comes with a pre-installed hard drive. i can't wait

Tentatively titled the PSTwo (Just like it's older brother the PSOne), this rerelease of Sony's powerhouse console might just be what many of the Sony fanboys have been waiting for. Not only is it smaller but now it comes with a built-in net adapter.

YAY!

Thumbs up

I like it.

Waiting for? It's nothing new, lol! Just re-sized and built-in ethernet... no biggie really.... may help to persuade those who do not have a PS2 to buy one now though...

i'm definitely getting it just cuz of the network ports, and the fact that my current ps2 is busted now. and about the repost thing, it hasn't been posted here in ny, so

Believe me, people have been waiting for a portable PS2 for a significant amount of time after the console's release.

Yan, this isn't the portable PS2 (that is the PSP)....this is just a "slim" PS2 with a built in ethernet port... noting really "new" about it.... still a PS2.

The Playstation Portable (PSP) isn't a "portable PS2". It is a new handhled coming into the market to battle Nintendo and it's DS (as well as the next line in the Game Boy generations).

The new resizing of the PS2 as well as the addition of the ethernet port are in hopes to make the console follow in the footsteps of it's older brother, the PSX (The original Playstation, not the Tivo/PS2 Hybrid). Don't forget that the PSOne was released so that people could have a portable Playstation. Sony's plans were to make a portable Playstation 2, as well, and here is the end result. It's probably going to be known as the PSTwo.

Posted by keithos27 on Sep-22-2004 21:33:

How can you call the PSTwo portable? It's just small...doesn't have a TV screen or anything though.... Is the GameCube portable?

Anyway, I thought you were referring to the PSP when you said "portable".

Posted by trunks1022 on Sep-22-2004 22:18:

i think what yan means by portable for ps2 and ps1 is just that they're just more streamlined. whatever. they're still keeping the ps2 name for the system coming out in november. i believe they're not gonna bother with the PStwo, which is unlike the PSone for the smaller version of the psx.

The PSOne came without a screen: http://www.gaming-age.com/news3/may2k/psone/PSone_1.jpg

The PSTwo is compatible with most of the screens that have been released for the Playstation 2, or so I heard. I think Sony intended to release this new PSTwo to follow up it's success with the PSOne.

The GCN is comfortable to tug around but is far from being a "portable" console.

Haha... That's actually a good question. I'm sure they'll sell some wire seperately that will allow you to connect the HD.

i've just been using pc for ffxi... i can't play that thing until i format my computer tho. comp's been on the fritz lately

Yan, that was the other thing that was confusing me... I know the PSOne had a screen, whereas this PS2 does not. Anyway, I'm convinced it's just a smaller PS2 with the built-in ethernet... PS2, PSTwo, whatever.... it's still not as good as Xbox in my opinion (take note I had a PS2, sold it, now have 2 Xboxs, and 2 GameCubes).

However, regardless of this smaller PS2... someone else told me Sony was selling the new PS2s with a faster chip? Any info on that?

Keith
