Trance never died, but it certainly got samey and uniteresting at times and lost its way a bit. The likes of above and beyond have kinda resurrected it to be fair. Anyone disputing that is clearly on drugs

Is it so much that trance died or is it that *you* just got tired of it? *shrug* I'm truly not sure...

I know that it's alive to me and honestly, that's all really matters as long as al of the great DJs out there just keep making music. Even if trance died this very day, we would still have many, many great yers to look back on and listen to - be content with what you've got; that way, everything beyond will put you in a state of wonder.

Trance never died, it just evolved.

And for the record, Darren Tate is God. No-one is worthy.

As if. Besides, hiphop died around 1991 when NWA broke up and is little more than a joke these days.

Posted by mike_stefan69 on Sep-22-2004 11:48:

most trance these days is really shit
thats why many hardcore trance addicts are actually prog addicts now
i cant be bothered to listen to the same ASOT shit all the time, its all the same gay fluffy piano led 3 minute breakdown nonsense

and darren tate should be punched with a hammer

ok here you go:

different eras have different sounds

the trance that I grew up on, the '96-'00 sounds of oakey and van dyk, is indeed dead.

this period, ie 2000-present is the era of prog- sasha, sander, zabiela, etc

maybe soon trance will make a comeback but it won't be the '96-'00 sound, maybe it will complete its progressive transformation through guys like markus schultz, or maybe van dyk will get his head out of his ass and stop his commercial bullshit

some gendres however just keep on plugging and have stayed pretty consistent... i feel that techno hasn't changed that much since '99, at least carl cox's sound has stayed pretty level

whatever the next era of dance music holds in store for us, you can be sure that it will be led by Sasha. he holds all the keys!

Hehehehe, that van Dyk....walking around with his head in his ass....

*sniff sniff*
"What's that smell?"

I don't think the keys are hold by Sasha. With all respect for the great prog-man..., I think the keys are hold by the newer and upcoming dj's and producers.... Even Tiesto isn't holding trance's keys anymore...

I am aware of the great prog.-thing washing over trance's shores.... I really like some prog. (LikWit-stuff, some Way out West tracks) but as far as the Global Underground-prog. That makes me go snore really bad.... That's boring music.....IMO....

Glad that hardtrance is pretty concistent.... Although it suffers a major influence from the ressurected hardcorehype and the invention of hardstyle...
But I kinda like hardstyle too....
