POWER/Protien Bars
any one know which brand doesn't taste like ass. I know Bally's total fitness makes one that tastes good but its hella spendy and i have to go to that gym to get them. I found tigers milk, power bar, and cliff, to all taste like shit. ANy ideas?
So far, my favorite would have to be...
Tri-O-Plex
Eat a can of tuna, there's at least twice as much protein in that as there are in the so-called protein bars, which are usually full of carbs.
Trioplex is the shit (Especially Caramel & Apple)
I've found most flavors of Carb Solutions brand to be pretty decent. Also, Pure Protein by Worldwide Sports Nutrition are also pretty good.
Make sure you pay attention to the number of net carbs in the bar you are getting, some of them have 20+ grams of sugar in them.
I would recommend getting one of each flavor locally, find out what you like, and order in volume of the internet. You will save a lot of money that way.
Oh and on the can of tuna thing, plain tuna tastes like ass and it is nowhere near as convenient as having a protein bar. But you do have to keep an eye on the net carbs.
I rather enjoyed the 'Balance Gold' chocolate mint cookie bars myself. *looking off wrapper* 23g carbs...15g protein...only 14g sugars.... not too shabby.
I have one as a souvenier in my freezer - it was one left over after my black belt test
i don't have a big sweet tooth and i don't even really like candy bars, so i'm with Omegasox...go w/ the can of tuna. that's what i do when i get back from a late workout and don't feel like making stuff...i just empty the can of tuna, maybe cut up some tomato slices or cucumber and add a little italian dressing or just straight lime juice w/ salt n pepper is yummy too
i forget the kind of bars my boyfriend eats, but they are pretty good considering what they are....they taste just like snickers...
*edit* they're Detour bars....pretty good.
If you don't like tuna or want a variety, just cook up a piece of chicken breast.
^^ yup, on the forman grill babY! hahah i love that thing.

Balance Gold chocolate fudge
hey, i always have a prolab vanilla protein shake after a workout, tastes great!
just wondering, why do u go 4 protein bars over shakes?
shakes are more easily absorbed when needed after the workout, and alot cheaper! (there something like per 100g 70gprotein,10gfat,10carb of which sugars 4g)
but then bars are more easily mobile 4 most ppl when your on the go i suppose
