if its on university, they might just have "blocked" things like that.
Streaming livesets from the net steals the bandwith you know..
and thats not cool when other people try to surf the net..

Am I correct folks?

you need to ask your isp for proxy info, but dont tell them about the dc++

Damn.

The ISP is networked by the university called resNET. Dont think ill get proxy details of the admin but ill see what i can do.

you could try and get the details for msn but if its allready ristricted they will prob be a moniter on all trafic to and from the network and anyting over a certain amount will tirgger a alarm, no downloading for you from looks of it

Your school is blocking those ports.

Very simple solution: get HTTP Tunnel.

your uni will have denied all unknown ports, try getting httport from www.htthost.com

worked at my old school (btw you change your connection settings so that 127.0.0.1 is your proxy)

Thanks Guys

Had no luck with MSN messanger, but i heard the university should be sorting that.

I got Yahoo messanger up and running fine and Winamp sorted

Ill just use webmessanger for the time being.

Uh, yeah, the admin on a LAN system controlling the Internet gateway can block certain sites or a range (i.e., Pr0n). Live streams are worst offenders for tying up bandwith. Why don't you just download your music and play it in WinAmp??? The admin is probably using an Admin Level virus scanner on the e-mail handler as well - if not then he/she is a f*cking idiot at a college. Dang kids.

I agree with im, I used that for a while and it worked fine, they couldn't detect anything. Now they can, they got better sniffers, but apparently there's a new version of Http Tunnel that's coming out (maybe it came out already) that's harder to detect...
