System 7 - Planet 7

I just heard the mp3 of this.

I am not a fan of this tune, but I did notice that the bassline is almost IDENTICAL to that of 3rd Earth. What the fuck's up with that?

*sigh*

Coincidence? I doubt that System 7 listen much to trance nowadays considering the kind of music they make. And how bout including some info on the tune itself?

"Planet 7" is the first single from System 7's new album "Encantado". Out October 4th with remixes from Son Kite and James Holden.

yep...and the james holden remix is wicked as usual

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-24-2004 14:42:

so that's what Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy have been up to.

Agreed

Posted by eulerfx on Sep-24-2004 16:36:

I haven't heard this tune, but I must say that 3rd Earth does not really have the most original bassline...its pretty standard syncopation for trance nowadays....

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-24-2004 16:37:

I've never been a fan of hillage and co., dunno why.

Posted by Bernd_Gradish on Sep-24-2004 17:10:

Common... the original mix is really an almost identical copy of 3rd earth. Every single effect of the bassline is the same as in 3rd earth.

Holdens mix isnt doing anything for me this time. Weakest Holden mix ever

Son Kite remix is tha shizzle!
Great bassline, full of clashing percussions.

I guess you are saying 3rd Earth rips from Sander's My Lexicon too then..

The fact that you put forth a thread just pointing out "OMFG 3rd Earth ripoff!!!111" when you have no evidence to support it, didn't provide any other info on the track in a thread in New Releases forum, and then proceeding to say "remove stick from ass" to me when I point it out all adds up to you being a clueless twat.

Posted by kixalot on Sep-26-2004 03:57:

Never once did I say that this was a ripoff of 3rd Earth. All I said was that the bassline was extremely similar. Obviously I have no evidence to support it...other than LISTENING TO THE FUCKING TRACK YOU MORON.

Another fucking thing. Since when do people even have to include info on the track? How many threads are there with nothing but "omg I love this tune, what do you guys think?". That's not providing any info at all, but somehow people manage to soldier on and get past it. Of course, every now and then, there's some Hitler-esque neo-nazi thread cop such as yourself taking it upon himself to police the forums.

It seems to me that you're the clueless one, since you appear much more eager to make snide little comments than actually discussing trance.

Seriously, what the hell is your problem? I guess I was wrong when I told you to remove the stick, because it's obvious that it's your head up your ass. This is why I've avoided online trance discussion for so many years; there's too many arrogant pricks like you who want to nitpick every little fucking thing.

The "Omfg 3rd Earth ripoff!!11" was a merely an expression for all the people on TA who suddenly feel the urge to tell people how incredibly similar one track is to another by making a thread, despite the fact that there are millions of tracks who always will and always have sounded similar to each other. What does it have to do with "New Releases"? At least you could have provided samples to back up your point.

This is the "NEW RELEASES FORUM". Here, the point is to discuss new tracks and gain info on new records that will be out. How are we supposed to do this when all the info you bother to provide in a thread is "Hey, I just heard this on mp3 and it sounds a lot like 3rd Earth"? The fact that you're not the only one doing it does not make it better, in fact it's one of the biggest problems of this mp3 l33tness infested miasma of a forum.

And I assume you can make that judgement based on my posts in this thread alone? Idiot. Besides, I've been a lot more constructive in this thread so far than you.

I wish you had stayed out. The last thing TA needs is another guy like yourself who drags this forum further into the mud with shit threads like this, and then proceeds to childishly mudsling the person who asks if you could possibly be a bit more informative when posting a new thread regarding a new release. So for your own and TAs good, please fuck off.

So since everyone else does it's OK? Bullshit. Shite threads like those are one of the biggest problems of this forum. I just happened to comment on it in this one.

Posted by jamiepollock643 on Sep-26-2004 16:50:

Dont have a go at me, im sayin the same thing as u but this thread isnt one of those, the tracks out and easy to find, you shudnt need to put in every single detail of the track to start a thread on it...where it was recorded, wot studio, wot number on the album etc. Its about discussing the track itself not every other detail

I'm not having a go at you.

And I'm not asking for much info either, just make a bit more of an effort than "I heard this on mp3 and it sounds like 3rd Earth". It's not that hard, digging up the info I posted earlier in this thread took me less than a minute.

Posted by kixalot on Sep-26-2004 17:11:

Out of pure laziness, I'm not going to bother disecting your post so this bullshit can swing back and forth like a tennis match. To put it simply, this is an open discussion forum where the base purpose is to discuss a new release. This thread was created to spark discussion, which (aside from your intervention) has now occured. Yeah, I heard it on mp3. Big deal. I also purchase vinyls weekly and have done for years so don't try and throw around the mp3 whoring crap.

You know what?

Screw it.

I am in genuine disbelief that you could actually feel that your actions were justified. I can't imagine what kind of twisted logic you've applied here. Bravo sir.

Well damn, who would've thought.

You're not addressing any of the points in my previous post, so your words are quite useless. Whether you purchase vinyl weekly and have done for years I really could care less about. The fact that you got all defensive regarding the whole "mp3 whoring crap" without me even so much as mentioning it says it all though.

My actions are more than justified, if more people actually bothered to tell people like you to put more effort into threads in this forum, we might actually improve it vastly. Unfortunately, thanks to people like you acting like pathetic 14 year olds when told to make more of an effort, that's never gonna happen.

lol in writing my reply i kinda forgot wot the first post said...and in fairness "heard it on mp3 like it, wot do ya think" is a pretty shit way of opening a topic on a track....so i agree with you

The only discussion I see is people commenting on how shit this thread is. You're in the minority here, yet you fail to realise it.
