It's my understanding that when the show originally went off the air the DVD sales afterward prompted them to start the show back up.

it got cancelled, but then fan uproar pressured Fox to bring it back.

Actually it was the Million + viewers on Comedy Central for it's re-runs. Family Guy has been cancelled for a few years now... another shining example of Fox taking a great program and fucking around with it's timeslot.

I can't wait for the new stuff to hit the airwaves... it will be on either Teletoon or The Comedy Network here starting January. I almost had the editing job for the sound for Corus here, but lost out.

I don't think that's right. I think it's going to be on FOX alone in January....

Corus has the CDN broadcast rights, just like they have for the re-runs.

They might air them as a Simulcast with Fox, like say global did for Married With children, or they will air them @ different times than Fox's premiere.

As far as I know, Teletoon/Cartoon Network were supposed to air it this fall, but now Fox wants to air it itself. And since it owns the rights, it decides when the show gets aired.

AND, last I heard, Fox can't figure out where to stick the show in (because it has way too many dumbass reality shows to air first), so it's been delayed till Mid-05 (eg. May). The episodes are already finished.
