anyways, hi all ps2 fans. my question is, will the ps3 be stronger this time compared to the xbox 2? so far sources are saying it has an upper advantage in power and other stuff. that the unit's processor is going to be much stronger and smoother than the xbox 2's power pc7.

gimme some info.

exactly...of course 'sources' are going to say ones better than the other...its called marketing. Tell the public how much better it is before it even comes out. You are so right, people seem to forget that a visual stunning game that is no fun to play is nothing more than a nicely moving picture, while a not so good looking game that is fun to play become classics.

simply put, 80% of the games on consoles won't ever appear on the PC. an even better reason would be due to having to keep your PC up to date with the latest specs. you talk about high end graphics and sound, but in order to accomodate those features PC gamers are required to constantly push hardware whereas console gamers do not.

everything worth playing on the ps2 has a better alternative on another system. morrowind and KOTOR own final fantasy, zelda owns all jak and dexter type games, and halo and far cry own any feeble attempts of the ps2 to come up with a decent shooter. soul caliber 2 is universal, but the extra characters on the xbox and GC are much cooler. not to mention that xbox live and PC internet own ps2 internet. I don't feel loyal to microsoft or nintendo, but the ps2s massive library doesn't count for anything when the games themselves are inferior.

What kind of half-arsed comparisons are you making there...

a) Morrowind isn't even a remotely similar type of RPG as Final Fantasy is and "Zelda owns Jak and Daxter type games" I think you personaly simply prefere action orientated rpg's above platformers, wtf has that to do with systems.

b) Halo is so pass�, the X-box has prolly by now produced far more remarkable games than Halo. Halo was good, but it only combined several good things from several different FPS shooters.

c) Xbox Live is indeed an excelent service, but it is yet another thing you have to pay for while the games you buy are allready way overpriced (same goes for PS2 games) and you can usually play the same games online for free on PC.

the only games that are popular are FPS and RPG...u cant play a racing,fighting cuase they are not popular...or sports game...more console people play those types of games...and btw XBOX live is only 49.99 a year..thats cheap...u cant afford it thats ur problem.

ah..no. im a classic gamer, but i still know the importance of hardware.

you think current gta's would be possible without great hardware? think again.

think the AI they build into sports games, would be possible without the hardware? think again.

great hardware lets you push the reality of some of these games, and i think its great. yes a game still has to be fun, but a game which is fun and looks amazing...well thats even better.

I just find it rather worrying that "you as a user" have to pay to be able to play a game you already payed for when you bought it. It wouldn't suprise me that Sony would launch a similar project for the PS3 online stuff and that in the future you'll even need to pay a subscription fee for every single pc-game you want to play online regardless if it's MMORPG or not.

I'm still amazed how people are so eager to keep on paying, you even have to pay extra when you wan't to play MMORPG's on Xbox Live although you already pay to play online (I can be wrong here, it is based on something I read in an article concerning MMORPGs in general).
