to all aspiring dj's...............

.......... DON'T BE A BONEHEAD

Posted by StereoPrincess on Sep-26-2004 18:18:

meaning...

...don't pretend you bought vinyl when the person that made the song hasn't even put it on vinyl yet.

Posted by dEsidEL on Sep-26-2004 18:19:

posting this mix in multiple forums didn't help either .. nor does using ur real name as a DJ when a mistake like this happens ..

poor Alec ..

Posted by Endlesswave on Sep-26-2004 18:33:

Yeh, that sucks...seriously though, who does that?

Arghh, grammar, it wasn't meant to be read as I bought it on vinyl. Rather that I did get a new shipment of vinyl in (truth) and that there are 2 great songs to check out as well.

Posted by Nemireck on Sep-26-2004 19:22:

That makes sense actually Unfortunately dudeness still busted you for the Illegal MP3s :-p

did you buy it at all?

PS. I'm not trying to attack you or anything but it is a learning lesson for all DJs. You never know who your mix is going to be heard by so you have to make it out to represent your collection not stuff you downloaded.

im lost...huh??

Dude, who cares whether it was vinyl or not. You downloaded a track off the net which isn't even released yet. Then went forward and put it into a set and made it available for public download. Ghey

it was not even a full download, it was a rip of someone elses set
that is so laimed, he did that.

Posted by alec on Sep-26-2004 21:37:

I just wanted others to hear it, but it was my bad, because I didn't realise that djs keep exclusivity because they want to release on a cd as a somewhat "unknown" track, I thought it was just a great song and all should hear it, thats it, but I won't do it again, now that I know how the industry works.

Posted by DigiNut on Sep-26-2004 21:43:

I don't condone it either, but is there some particular reason we've got a thread dedicated to rubbing it in? Give the guy a break, he made a mistake... he already took plenty of shit for it.

if the thread was dedicated to rubbing it in i would have named it " alec is a bonehead". he deserves this. i posted this so other djs dont make the same mistake.

many many DJs on this board do that. Do i see you pointing the finger at each other and talk a load of bullshit? Problem is YES I DO.

you tranceaddicts are full of it. SUPPORT THOSE WHO SUPPORT YOU. if Max had a problem with it, he should have contacted Alec personally. Besides, Gamma, you have more sense than that. You didn't have to point out Alec's mistake. We've all heard about it already. so what? Shit happens, u don't need to make him hate his life.

Posted by diesel0 on Sep-26-2004 22:54:

this is exactly why i stopped comin to trance addict. Its full of shit.

Rocco pointed this thread out to me, its pathetic. You are all pathetic.

Have a nice day.

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Sep-26-2004 22:55:

BE NICEEEE,

ive known alec for a couple of years and he is simply posting a set up for our enjoyment.. its not like he is making a profit out of it

perhaps he shouldnt have put an unreleased track on the compilation, at least he isnt spinning cds out of his ass over and over again, like ive seen some djs do, and make a 100% profit out of it,

this is something very small and some of the comments posted are inconsiderate and hypocritical to some extent

no, no other DJs do that. that would be really not smart.

I personally only found out about this today.

And again, Gamma alread said it wasn't a personal attack on Alec. Just telling other DJs not to do this.

And to all those that keep calling this a mistake, it wasn't, it was done on purpose.

well assuming that he wants to continue DJing and actually get gigs then everything he is doing is to promote himself as a DJ. ASOOT is something that alec has been doing for a while to promote himself so that if he ever gets a gig people would actually go see him.

Marge, do you go through EVERY DJ's record crate to see what's been spun as vinyl or as CD? Let alone which CDs are a rip or an original?

It's not a matter of smarts, it's just a matter of playing a certain track. DJs bust their asses getting new material. It's not a matter of whether or not I agree with what has been done, i disagree but what i don't agree on is the judgment that is passed. It's truly ignorant to say no other DJ does that.

that is true.. but its also promotion for the producers of the tracks when he puts up a tracklisting

i can understand why max graham would be upset with this since the track wasnt released yet.

the point of this thread is:

WAIT FOR THE FUCKIN TRACK TO BE RELEASED BEFORE U PUMP IT LIVE OR IN A MIX

Yep I agree, now that I know this I won't do it, problem is no one wrote any rules on Dj'ing, what to do and what no to, I made a mistake and it won't happen again, I did it with good intentions but it turned sour, shit happens, meh.

chill out man i wasnt aiming at yelling at u... i know several djs burn mp3s onto cds and stuff but jsut be cautious and let the track be released so that no one would suspect u dont have the vinyl..lol (i never said that)
